Just booked in Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda
This apartment has an inside outside feel which is real Caribbean. It has a loft bedroom but absolutely needs no cooling. It has wonderful breeze from the Atlantic ocean and the Fitches Creek bay. The patio overlooks the bay. Return from the beach and other activities to absolute tranquility and have the best of both worlds. Limited public transportation. No bus schedules but very accommodating bus driver. Taxis are also available. Your host will assist for small fees.
Can arrange for pick-up. An Antiguan welcome is never forgotten. The apartment is in a section of my home and visitors will feel at home in this no smoking facility. The apartment has it's own entrance. You see your host only if you want to. There is a personnal welcome for each guests. Welcoming guests has evolved from career to a hobby.
The neighborhood is residential but the rest of the island is not far away. Good opportunity for taking walks. Good opportunity for rest and relaxation. The apartment is close to the airport, beaches and the North Sound marina.
  • Our stay with Chrys was AMAZING! "Antiguan Hospitality" is what we kept finding in abundance on the island and no one did it better than Chrys. To start, Chrys picked us up from downtown to take us to her place. It is a bit secluded and I think she knows that and it was never a problem to get a ride to town...very courteous host. - We both are vegan, and Chrys went out of her way to make us an exceptional Antiguan breakfast our first morning. So much thought went in to it. - Now the accommodations...stunning! It is completely modern and has an abundance of screened windows to keep it fresh and cool. You wake up with the sunrise kissing your face upstairs, and have a meticulous kitchen downstairs. I can't recommend this place enough, and no one will take as much care with your happy stay than Chrys. Thank you

  • Our stay was fantastic and Chrys is a brilliant host offering an island history and local breakfast. We loved out Stay and highly recommend it!

  • Chrys is an amazing host. Despite having a hire car she met us at the airport, then guided us to the supermarket (and waited half an hour while we shopped). She also gave us full route instructions for reaching a place we need to get to (Boatyard in North Sound). The facilities were just what we needed. A compact bathroom/shower and equipped small kitchen with full cooker, microwave and fridge. The airy upstairs loft bedroom was comfortable. Her place in a quiet tidy neighborhood would be hard to find without guidance as road signage and maps for Antigua are not very helpful for tourists going off the normal routes. We stayed here while preparing our small yacht for launching and it was perfect for us. Many thanks, Chrys -a host in a million!

  • This place is incredible. Wonderfully warm and welcoming host and a beautiful, well-appointed private apartment with idyllic island charm inside and out. We liked it so much, we came back for a second stay!!

    John2018-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Chrys was absolutely remarkable, from the time I booked the listing to the time we left the beautiful island of Antigua. Not only did she go out of her way to make sure we had directions to get around the island, but she took us to the grocery store and one of her favorite local food stands. My stay in Antigua could not have been any better and it was the perfect way to celebrate my birthday. Her home is beautiful and the sounds of the birds in the garden with the breeze from the ocean were a great combination. The traditional Antiguan breakfast homemade by Chrys was a highlight of the trip as we got to taste delicious local food and learn more about the island and Chrys. She truly made us feel like we were at home. I could not recommend a better place to stay in Antigua and would certainly return to stay with Chrys. One thing I noticed about the island is that everyone was very kind and willing to go out of their way to help you. Chrys was the epitome of this hospitality. Thank you so much Chrys!!

  • Chrys is an amazing hostess, who is knowledgeable, welcoming and friendly. She offered to pick us up from the Airport, though we did not need it, it was great to know this was an option for us. Her home was absolutely beautiful, private, secluded and peaceful. Her apartment was clean and well equipped and looked just like the pictures do (which was great). Tip: you need a rental car to be able to move around with ease. Public transportation is limited and harder to access. It can also be quite costly to get to some places of interest on the Island. We would definitely stay at Chrys' again, and look forward to a return trip! Kim & Wendy

    Kim2018-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Chrys is an amazing host with a very cosy self catering studio. Good Wi-Fi and t.v. Full kitchen and all necessary utilities. Very quiet and idyllic setting. Not for anyone looking for a tourist trap. Beautiful view of sunrise from bedroom and the water from the porch over a garden filled with colour and scent. Humming birds by day and fireflies by night. A special place.

    Brian2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is the great place to unwind and relax for a few days. Staying here was the perfect introduction to Antigua - I learned so much about the island and beyond, all in the first morning. The garden is lovely and the breeze off the water is refreshing. Getting around without a car can be difficult but Chrys was very helpful with this as well.

We are the Rural West of St Johns because of slow but sure development l consider the area of Five Islands to be a semi rural and very convenient locations it is sleepy, breezy, vibrant and the feel of local life is laid back, with a church going, farming community all around you, which is the rural Caribbean and totally authentic, village folk will welcome you to their special village of Five Islands and are only too pleased if you join in their special weekly BBQ evenings, hangout spot or shop for basic household items or a local bread sandwich and homemade juice in the village shack shops around the village... It's very possible on your stroll to the village you will meet herds of cows, horses, goats and or sheep and flocks of hens and cockerells with the odd pig crossing the pathways here and there as its a free for all grazing zone, once you reach the village the Five Island folk are friendly and very helpful, as many are very proud of their special and beautiful Caribbean corner of Antigua and quite rightly so...

  • Sonja was wonderful getting back to us and providing all kinds of suggestions for so many things. My husband and I had a wonderful time. The two things that I would consider a negative is the driving and the animals. Driving on the island is not for the faint of heart. People walk out in front of you and I do not think there are any rules and if there are no one follows them. It was a little stressful getting around which of course has nothing to do with our accommodations or hostess but thought it important to mention. The other was the dogs, cats, horses, goats, chickens and cows that are left to wonder wherever they will. So many of them look in a sad state but as we have traveled to other Caribbean islands this seems normal to them. The dogs can sometimes be a little annoying at night since they will bark and the cocks that crow in the morning especially if your windows are open, you will hear it.

    Dawn2016-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoyed everything from start to finish. Sonja was really helpful, friendly, a great hostess and a dynamic lady. We loved the dogs (especially (Website hidden by Airbnb) who weren't at all intrusive and we're really friendly too. She even took us on a guided initially, from then on, we hired one of her Mitsubishi trucks and we're away on our own exploring a fantastic islands with gorgeous beaches and some memorable other trips..... Stingray swimming, Nelson's dockyard, Jolly harbour, Dickenson bay, the hustle and bustle of St. Johns.......And lots of beaches with turquoise water, deep blue sea, white sands that you can just drive up to and park literally yards from where you sunbathe.....Also some pretty decent food. Then back to the gorgeous pink shacks in Sonja's self-created (Website hidden by Airbnb) plan another fantastic day.

    Dave2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Sonja arranged our pickup despite the ever changing landing time due to LIAT airlines issues. She provided some snacks and groceries for our first morning and also provided a lengthy tour of the Five Islands area, St. Johns and the beach area north of downtown which gave a great overview of the local area. We spent a day with Lionel (recommended by Sonja) on his boat for a snorkel and beach tour. The snorkeling was OK but the reef is unhealthy, and the tour of the western side of the island by boat provided good views of some isolated and inaccessible beaches (should be noted that all beaches on Antigua are public). We also rented a car for a few days and toured around. We toured Nelson's dockyard, Shirley Heights and area (great views), Devils Bridge and Half Moon bay (lunch at Smiling Harry's was good, and excellent spot for lunch/drinks is at Harmony Hall with a nice art gallery to boot). Sonja is currently hosting 13 small affectionate dogs to help find homes for them as well as four friendly cats, so guests should enjoy the company of animals! Which we do. She is also open to karaoke nights out...

  • We enjoyed staying in Antigua and Sonja has been a helpful host. The accommodation was basic and a bit isolated from the nearest city but clean and functional. Sonja offered a complementary trip to introduce us to the beaches but we ended up not doing it. Sonja has a good car rental deal, a must have if you want to move around the island. If you like peace and quiet you might look for other options as we often happened to be woken up by dogs and cocks' noise. All in all I would not recommend the place for those seeking peace and comfort but it is a good starting point for the island exploration.

    Marco2017-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • It's a perfect place to stay in Antigua for anyone wanting to have an authentic experience of the island by experiencing it on your own. Its a small premises where the cottages are located but the setup is allowing everyone enough privacy and space! Sonja is very very helpful and always good with advice and tips but never insisting on anything, made our stay feel very free and comfortable. Cottage is equipped with everything relevant for the stay, just big enough to fit your stuff and perfect to cook etc. We had really nothing to miss. Tips for Antigua in general: Internet speed on the whole island is not something to brag about but who travels there to live in the internet! Just in case you need to connect to work or exchange big files, patience:) But hey, if you go to Antigua for that, it would be a waste of great location! Roads (off from the mains especially) - patience and be careful with potholes and some dust roads can be flushed away by the rain, but its doable. People - just amazing!

  • We had a lovely week in Antigua staying at the Pinkshacks. Very colourfully decorated, really pretty room. Everything you might need has been thought of. Good location for beaches and St John's. Sonja was very welcoming and absolutely lovely!! She took us on a complimentary tour of the area and gave us lots of information. She's really thought of everything! We'd highly recommend a stay here.

    Alexis2015-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sonja made us more than welcome providing a gift basket and beverages upon arrival. It was rare when she wasn't available onsite for questions or just to chat. The neighborhood is definitely rural. You wake up to roosters crowing, chickens, and occasionally hear a donkey braying nearby. And Sonja has plenty of pets of her own as well with a menagerie of small dogs and several cats that frequently roam the grounds so you are certainly in luck particularly if you're an animal lover. You can walk to several beaches on some nearby back roads within 15-20 min. but you'll quickly realize the need for a vehicle to broaden your exploration and experiences across Antigua. You can of course hire a taxi or hop on the regular bus service that circumnavigates the island but your own vehicle can't be beat for maximizing time, saving money, and sheer convenience. The road leading up to this hideaway is dirt and has some considerable washouts so if you have a traditional rental car, you have to be extremely careful not bottom out. Opt for an SUV or jeep if you can because not only will you have an easier time navigating here but elsewhere across the island. Pink Shack Studios are a cluster of several close together pink cottages giving you the feeling you are in a separate village in and of itself. Loads of palms planted between the concrete sidewalks walkways provide privacy and the ambiance of a jungle retreat. The interior of the cottage we stayed in was decorated just as you would envision a beach shack to look like. Paintings on the walls, shell decorations, open floor plan, vaulted ceilings, and your own private veranda outfitted with wind chimes, stereo, table, chairs...plenty of seating for a small party if you wish. The kitchen was outfitted with everything needed to cook your own meals. We personally didn't do extensive cooking but the pots and pans along with utensils and crockery are all there should you be inspired to try your hand with a local recipe or saute some fresh caught fish abundantly available from the docks in St. John's or from your own fishing trip.

  • Great place for a long stay and great value. We will be back.

    Dwight2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was very clean and close to St. John's and some great beaches. We were disappointed in that we asked specifically about having a bath tub to bathe in but there was no way to plug the tub or divert the water from the shower head to fill the tub. Safe was did not working and unless foods were already frozen the missing freezer door meant nothing could be put in the freezer to freeze. Host's parents who live on the same property were very helpful. Wifi is poor at best as it doesn't work in all parts of the cottage.

  • Very nice cottage! Very nice location as close to major facilities as supermarkets, banks, shopping center, the capital city and beautiful beaches!

    Furio2017-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • The location of the house was within walking distance of two supermarkets. Not too far from town (under 10mins drive) Could walk to town but takes at least 35mins to do so. Very close to a gym, literally a 1min walk away. Air conditioning in the bedrooms. Fold away bed is included as well as towels and flannels to use. There’s also a washing machine which comes in handy.

    Jordan2018-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place! We were warm welcomed and the house was shown to us. There is everything you need, so you feel like home. We could park our car in the garden parking place area, so we didn't need to worry about the car. You can enjoy your meal on the terrace. There is a road next to the house, but the traffic isn't that huge. The house is 5 min from the supermarket and 10 min from Dickenson bay, 10 min from St.Johns, 10 min form the airport, very good and strategic location. Towels are provided. I will definitely go back to this place.

    Valerie2015-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • The family had an excellent experience at a reasonable price. The accommodations were accurate and met our needs. The area is quiet and in a beautiful well kept area of the island. Having a market nearby and being less than 10 minutes from the airport made this cottage one that I will certainly book in the future.

This breezy and bright one-bedroom villa includes a huge patio that overlooks the Caribbean, elevated ceilings and easy access to the beach. Enjoy a stocked kitchen, open living area, gorgeous bedroom & a private pool for a taste of Antiguan living! Follow us on Instagram: @lushlifeantigua
This villa truly accommodates indoor-outdoor living with French doors that open onto the spacious patio, an additional balcony off of the bedroom, high ceilings and louvered windows throughout. Opening the doors & windows to the second-story space allows the trade winds to sail through the villa on warm Antiguan afternoons. The bedroom includes a California King bed and the living area includes a daybed that is perfect for accommodating a child. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to prepare meals, and the full-sized fridge will hold all the groceries you need for your stay (and lots of Wadadli). The kitchen & bathroom are a bit older, but they have all you'll need.
Lush Life is perched above Dickenson Bay, one of the longest & most popular beaches in Antigua. That means you'll have easy access to a beautiful beach, nearby restaurants & bars and local amenities (massages, jet skis, boat tours, horeseback riding, grocery stores, movies, pharmacy - anything you could want - within a five minute walk or drive) and your own private space. What we truly think is amazing about this area is that these amenities are coupled with the beautiful quiet of the neighborhood. Sitting on the patio at night, you'll see the North Star shining brightly, hear the wind blowing the palm fronds, notice frogs croaking in the background, and in a moment of peace you'll hear the waves crashing on the beach. It's truly peaceful.
  • The listing description was very much indeed accurate, the villa is a gem! The space is absolutely lovely, comfy and beautifully furnished. The neighborhood is quite and quaint, clean and friendly. Everyone shares the pool area and gives each other space and time to enjoy. Lisa and Mark are amazing hosts, every need we could thing of was taken care of - and MORE. Our overall experience was tranquil and the views are serene. Take a stroll down to the pristine bright blue water beach and dine in the restaurant above the villa for sunset as we did for a relaxing yet eventful day.

  • I came to Antigua to attend school and had never been here before. From the time I chose Lush life, Lisa stayed in communication with me. She was optimistic, and calmed my anxieties about coming to a new place to live for a while ( longer than say your regular vacation). It served as a gentle transition for me. I loved the views from the balcony. It was the best part of my stay, for sure. If you're looking to be outdoors most of the time, and need a place that also feels like home, this is the place for you.

    Tomi2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is better than I expected. The view is actually unbeatable. The walk up from the beach is described as a bit of a grind and so maybe with that in mind we found it perfectly fine — and a dip in the pool was a perfect reward for the few minute walk up the hill. We are in our 50s and while we like exercise, it is really just a couple of blocks. The place has a lovely layout and I couldn’t get enough of the charms of the patio and pool (though the pool needs a bit of a touch up cosmetically, it is clean and lovely). We were there over the Easter weekend and so I think the restaurant just behind the condo was unusually busy. If you like having music playing in the evening, the restaurant provided it! I quite loved it and would recommend it to friends and family heading to Antigua. The Sandals is just down the hill and sure, you could stay there, but we preferred the freedom, sunsets and sea breezes of this high up bright place.

  • Lush Life was exactly what I expected! The place was beautiful and in the perfect location for is to visit with friends and family. Lisa and Mark were great from booking to the day we left, answering my many questions. We will definitely make this our regular spot when in Antigua!

  • We had an amazing time at Lush Life! The villa is exactly how it is shown on the website. Mark and Lisa were prompt when I had any questions. Also, their info packet is helpful on where to go and what to do on the island. This is the best vacation I ever had and definitely a memorable birthday. I will definitely come back to Antigua. We were so welcomed by everyone there. Thanks so much for allowing us to share your home.

  • Mark and Lisa's condo was everything we hoped it would be and more! The stunning view overlooking Dickenson's Bay and the balcony was the perfect spot to capture both the sunrise with a coffee and the sunset with cocktails. We absolutely enjoyed the pool and the surrounding gardens, and it was a just a short walk down to the beautiful beach. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the birds coming to the feeder. All Mark and Lisa's recommendations for the condo and what to see and do on the island were excellent. Lisa was detailed and responsive to all our questions. Renting a car was a good idea because it enabled us to see many of the historical and picturesque locations on the island. We enjoyed Lush life so much that we absolutely will be back! • My boyfriend and I had a great time at Lush Life in Antigua! The apartment was great and had everything we needed. My advice is to rent a car at the airport as not much is close besides the beach and a couple of fabulous restaurants (Trade Winds & Nigel's). Insect repellant is also a must, get used to spraying a few times per day to keep mosquitos at bay! Absolutely stunning views from the condo and the pool came in highly useful -- we had a fabulous trip. Mark & Lisa were in constant contact and we had a very easy time with all logistics and info about the condo. I would highly recommend their villa!

    Natalie2015-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Mark and Lisa were very attentive hosts from the very beginning. We booked their beautiful villa months in advance and they were frequently in touch to check in, send us recommendations, and answer any questions we had. Their Lush Life guide was extremely valuable and helped us plan our entire vacation! We rented a car where they recommended, went on a catamaran they enjoy, and went to beach and restaurant favorites. It truly made our trip! Their directions to the apartment were perfect, especially on an island that has VERY little road signs. The apartment was at the top of a steep hill, but the views make it all worth it! The porch was wonderful and the hammock chair (not pictured) was a treasured seat for our morning coffee. The living room, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom had everything we needed. We did not cook in the kitchen, but we did stock up on food from a local super market (also recommended by Mark and Lisa). The pool was also a great perk! Five days were not enough and we truly hope to get back to lush life in the future. HIGHLY recommended!

Libby and Neil and the other guests of Pineapple House (PH) greeted us so warmly! They were kind enough to include us in evening dinners and get-togethers at the main house, they were great fun and we were given thoughtful advice on what to do during our stay. Libby's warm and accommodating nature allows for her guests to feel at home and welcome at PH. We stayed first in the Annex, which was wonderfully scenic and cozy and we would have continued to enjoy. However, then we switched to Cleopatra's, which was heavenly. The room was so open and airy, the view into the Harbour was unlike anything we've ever had in a vacation rental or anywhere really. Day or night, it was absolutely gorgeous. We didn't even mind the day we spent during a rainstorm just reading and cuddling up to nap and watch the storm. We loved having a nice four-poster bed with mosquito nets, as well as our own kitchen to have coffee and breakfast before setting out for the day. The sitting area was comfortable and we loved enjoying a drink before dinner. The furnishings are very tastefully chosen and thoughtful. The location is perfect for walking or driving to nearby sites or other island destinations. There are very nice places to eat and drink, we visited Pigeon Beach around the corner a few times during our stay-we loved it! When Libby had to go out of town, Tony and Amanda took good care of us in her absence and gave us some nice recommendations of how to spend our day and where to eat. Many thanks to the housekeeper, Caroline, for turning down our bed daily :) And it was a pleasure sharing in Libby's right-hand man, Neil's birthday celebration, he is so sweet! PH is a wonderful place to relax with a book and your sweetheart or enjoy the company of those from far off lands over a few rum drinks, we absolutely loved our time there! We don't have any complaints about PH and we would definitely recommend it and stay again in the future!

Excellent and very friendly communication with Sophie and Anna from the managing agents on the island. We had some problems with the swimming pool and water supply but these were sorted out VERY quickly by Anna and it did not affect our holiday at all. The house is beautifully built and the view is just as good, if not better, than the pictures. The local bar (Sweet T's - excellent ice cream) is just about walkable but you really do need a car for the short drive to a range of bars and restaurants. We would recommend Trappas restaurant for dinner and Skullduggery bar for a casual breakfast but there are plenty of local options. Pillars restaurant very good for special dinner. Titi car rental as recommended by the house owners were very friendly and helpful; they only took 40 minutes to come and rescue us from the other side of the island when we were stranded with 2 flat tyres
