Attractive Chalet/Cabin near Pembroke House School, Gilgil. Fully furnished and kitted out with everything for self catering. Big windows with nice views over Naivasha, light & airy. Nestled in to a forest with 3 other chalets with good security.
  • Il posto è molto accogliente, semplice ma con dettagli curati. Immerso nel verde, la vista dalle camere è piacevole e rilassante. La strada per arrivarci è un po’ tortuosa ma fattibile andando piano o con una macchina adatta. —- The chalet is very cozy and welcoming located in a green beautiful space. Christine and her sister gave us useful directions to reach the place. We enjoyed the nature, the peace and spent a great time there!

  • Christine's place is a little haven for people looking to get away for a relaxing time in the country side. The house is charming and cozy.

  • Lovely and peaceful place to stay. We were met when we arrived and had everything we needed whilst there. Would definitely go back!

  • What an absolutely delightful place to spend the night! I only wish we had been able to spend more time there. If we are ever in Gilgil again we will definitely stay here again! The chalet had everything you could want. There was such attention to detail. Elizabeth, the housekeeper, even gave us some sugar for our morning tea when we forgot to bring ours. We can't say enough great things about this place!

  • A fantastic affordable quiet getaway that's totally worthwhile for a couple or a couple with young children just looking for time away from the noisy city.

  • Beautifully located with a stunnning view from the master bedroom! The cottage is lovely, and the staff taking care are excellent and helpful. We only spent one night here but I would also recommend it for longer stays.

    Caroline2017-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • The Chalet was exactly as depicted in the pictures. It is in a beautiful location surrounded by forests, flowers and birds of various species. The accommodation was clean, well laid out and big enough for 4. The beds and mattresses were firm and sheets were fresh. Elizabeth (caretaker) was present to welcome us even though we arrived after nightfall. She was pleasant and provided us with the help we needed to settle in and get dinner going. Highly recommended getaway spot approximately 2hrs from Nairobi.

The Nest Lake Elementaita features an Eco- Cabin Log set on red cedar decks with front-row views of the ethereal Lake Elementaita and are fronted by the sandy beach of the lake whose backdrop is a pink mosaic of flamingos and the imposing “Sleeping Moran” mountain. A perfect space for nature lovers. This is a self service accommodation, guests can bring their food to cook in the kitchen on site.
The Eco- Cabin Log, perched on a private one-acre plot, features a double bedroom, a modern walk in bathroom, a furnished terrace and a beautifully manicured garden with trees and flower plants. Within the premises, there’s a fully kitchen container kitchen for use so you can prepare your own food. The Nest experience is an extension of your home. The live-in caretaker will be present at all times, making sure your experience is as comfortable as you possible.
Between Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru lies another of Kenya’s alkaline lakes – Lake Elementaita. Set within the eastern portion of the Rift Valley, the lake was produced approximately 12 million years ago, and today much of the lake is part of the private Soysambu Conservancy. The area is much less visited than other natural attractions in the region, so you enjoy a sense of privacy and solitude in a wondrous volcanic landscape. The 48,000-acre conservancy where Lake Elementaita sits, serves as a sanctuary for nationally threatened colobus monkeys, endangered Rothschild giraffes, elusive predators, avi-fauna and many other species. The ecology of Lake Elementaita is greatly influenced by rain and water levels. Specific conditions must be maintained, or the levels of algae, fish and invertebrates declines. When the abundance of these food sources declines, birds and other species prefer other Kenyan soda lakes where food is easier to locate. As a result, the number of flamingos and pelicans fluctuates. Even in less-than-optimum conditions, though, the lake is a paradise for bird lovers, offering more than 450 species, including migratory birds from Europe and other locations. The varied terrain offers volcanic hills, acacia woodlands, and grassy plains. As you walk across the diverse landscape, you may come upon craters, lava flows, plugs and other remnants of the region’s rich volcanic history, as well as odd geometric patterns created by the process of erosion in the highly porous soil. Towards the southern end of the lake are the Kekopey hot springs, a location that is thought to be an ancient passage site involved in the yesteryear ivory and slave trades Today Lake Elementaita is a protected area due to its birdlife fame and it has been named as one of the heritage sites together with the Lake Nakuru and Lake Bogoria by UNESCO.
  • Great place! especially for nature lovers and sundowners ;-) Highly recommended!

The lodge is on the shoreline of lake Elementaita. It offers panoramic view of the lake and the Rift Valley escarpments. There are over 400 species of resident and migratory birds -it is haven for bird lovers. Our swimming pool is great and is complimented by the gym, sauna and steam bath. Activities include trekking and hiking, nature walks, bird watching and you may also enjoy a ride on quad bikes. It is ideal for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families and big groups.
Panaromic view of the lake. Trekking and hiking, swimming pool by the shoreline. Great sundowners. Excellent for bird watching.
Our neighbors are friendly and value visitors
  • Great place near Nakuru where you might spot Hippos and Flamingoes while you have your breakfast. Very comfortable bed and shower. The best

  • This lodge is located right on the lake front, however, expect a view of the lodge and not the lake from your room. Make sure to bring mosquito repellant as there are no nets on the beds. Also, note that there is still a lot of construction on going and a lot of construction workers around the property. For my friend and I, two women traveling along, this made laying by the pool very uncomfortable. Brings snacks as well and eat out if possible as the food left a great deal to be desired. All in all this is a place that has a tremendous amount of wasted potential. Hopefully these things are addressed. The lodge has been open for a year and a half, but still hasn't really gotten it's act together. Also, make sure to bring ear plugs. Music / TV goes on at 7am and blasts on 2 foot speakers well into the night. It is truly a shame as this place could really be something if only someone paid attention to the details.

Cottage is in a nice secluded area. Slept wonderfully. Lots of nature and fresh air. The place is well set-up for self-catering. Good spot to get out of Nairobi for a weekend.

We had an amazing time at MIA. My husband and 10 month old baby were with my on a work trip and we needed to make arrangements in Nakuru last minute, Ivan and Damaris were incredibly accommodating. Quick response time, a very warm welcome, great bungalows, beautiful and safe grounds, dozens of smiling faces, you really can't ask for a better experience. We will definitely be coming back through for a visit!
