Lave Beds is a series of underground lava tubes which you can explore! Spelunking is a fun way to cool off during the summer months. This place is not for the claustrophobic! Make sure to bring a helmet and kneepads if you're going deep into the caves. Rentals can be purchased at the visitor center.

South of Klamath. If you're headed South I'd recommend the detour or make a day trip out of it.

Lava Beds National Monument is a land of turmoil, both geological and historical. Over the last half-million years, volcanic eruptions on the Medicine Lake shield volcano have created a rugged landscape dotted with diverse volcanic features. More than 700 caves, Native American rock art sites, historic battlefields and campsites, and a high desert wilderness experience await you!
