The granddaddy of Portland's libraries! Great free place to hang out. Also recently become a nest for the disaffected - thread between the homeless cuddled up with their favorite novels and textbooks. Gawk at the twisty one-of-a-kind bannister and pore over the wall of manja comics.

Built in 1913, this renovated Georgian building includes a bookstore with Portland souvenirs. Worth a peek inside just to see the main staircase and inscriptions.
