Famous cobbled street popular with tourists, with the Castle at the top and the Palace at the bottom. Busy and teeming with street performers in the summer months. I recommend exploring all of the closes (little lanes) that lead off the main street, where you can find cool courtyards and surprises. Beware - bars and cafes around here are a bit more expensive.

Oldest street in Edinburgh, connecting the Castle and the Palace (Holyrood). Lots of little closes run off it and this is the main Fringe Festival information street full of street performers and flyers.
