Drive to the top of Pikes Peak, it is one of Colorado's 14-ers. Call ahead to check weather and road conditions before heading to the summit. This is a must if you can make a day trip, the views are spectacular.

Pikes Peak is the highest summit of the southern Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, in North America. The ultra-prominent 14,115-foot fourteener is located in Pike National Forest, 12 miles west of downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado. The mountain is named in honor of American explorer Zebulon Pike. The summit is higher than any point in the United States east of its longitude.

You can drive to the top or take the COG railway. The road is not for the faint of heart if you are afraid of heights! The Summit House Complex is due to reopen June 30th. The former gift/ food complex is closed. There are typically high winds and expect it to be quite chilly. Bring a sweatshirt/ coat even in the summer months!
