Cooks Beach is made famous because Captain James Cook sailed on the HMS Endeavour into Mercury Bay in 1769 and anchored at Cooks Beach off Purangi.

Or if you prefer a more active break we provide a double kayak, (including life jackets) and paddle boards, and can suggest beautiful areas for walking. The property backs onto a reserve with space for parking so please enquire if you would like to bring your boat. Safe swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding are within view and only a 2 minute walk away.

The Lookout is a stand alone guest cabin located on an elevated private 10 acre property just 5 minutes drive to Cooks Beach. Situated next to regenerating bush, it offers views through to Mercury Bay Winery, the Purangi Estuary & beyond to Mercury Bay itself. Cooks Beach Studio Escape

A little update for our lovely guests. This studio, as shown in the main photos, is available for stays until 30 April. In May we’ll be closing briefly while we create a beautiful new, larger 30sqm studio in its place. From 1 June, guests will enjoy the brand new space, thoughtfully designed and finished to the same high standard and relaxed coastal style you know and love.
