It’s a great halfway point between Devonport and Launceston (35min drive from either) We’re on the Tasting Tail, surrounded by a wealth of produce including truffle, salmon, raspberry, dairy and honey farms. In the distance lie the Western Tiers, Cradle Mountain, and the Tasmanian wilderness. It’s a place where the cleanest air, land and water produce truly outstanding wine.

Eco self contained cottage in a garden.

This mini 1 bedroom house was our trial run in building our main home using passive house principles. We are approx 1 km from the centre of Westbury in a rural location. (You may be lucky enough to sight some of our local wildlife during your stay! ) The cottage is suitable for a couple, however the extra single bed does enable some flexibility for guests.(i.e. if you wish to use both beds, please book for 3 people.) We provide a library of information about sustainability for guest perusal.

Wylah Cottage, Deloraine, Secluded Bush Retreat

Nestling in a forest of Peppermint Gums is Wylah Cottage, so named after the Aboriginal word for the Yellow Tailed, Black Cockatoo, which is regularly seen and heard around the property. A secluded, self contained, bush retreat, located close to all the good things Tasmania has to offer. On 55 acres of bushland, teeming with wildlife, yet only 7kms from Deloraine – on the way to Cradle Mountain, and 45 minutes to either the Devonport Ferry, or Launceston Airport.

The property is nestled into the base of the Great Western Tiers which provides great opportunity for bushwalking and wildlife viewing. Blackwood Cottage is the perfect place to use as a base for outdoor adventures or as a place to relax in front of the fireplace.
