Ready to truly unplug and relax in the mountains? Let us share our slice of heaven with you. Located on a 640 acre working ranch and surrounded by thousands of BLM acres, this is the spot for you! Whether at the kitchen sink enjoying that first cup of coffee, or on the front porch having that evening nightcap, you will be embraced by picturesque views, fresh air, and calm vibes. Your comfort is our top priority. Let Douglas Creek Retreat be a part of your soul renewal and outdoor adventure.
So much to offer! This quiet, relaxing, remote, location is off the pavement and approximately 25 miles from town. We will provide a detailed ‘recommendations and tips’ list upon booking to help you enjoy your stay.
There is no cell service at the house, so you can truly unplug and live in the moment. Cell service is available from most carriers a short ½ mile up the road – we know you’ll want to be out exploring anyway! House water is safe for showering and dishes. Given the alkaline nature of the water, most guests preferred to bring bottled water for drinking. A 5-gallon jug of drinking water is available for guests. The front porch boosts a quaint porch swing and beautiful views. If conditions permit, we welcome you to responsibly use the fire pit and included fire wood located in the front yard.
This will be a unique outdoor experience. With that, we caution guests to be aware of their surroundings including the resident livestock and wildlife such as big game, bears and rattlesnakes. You will have access to the full home and yard. We ask that for your own safety that you do not enter the out-buildings or the adjoining private property.
This location is an outdoorsman’s dream! Whether you’re coming to hunt or just relax you will find the surrounding BLM access abundant. Plenty of public space to hike, bike, or off-road.
Some well-known attractions include “The Tank” (look it up, you won’t be disappointed), Kenney Reservoir, Canyon Pintado, and the Freemont Ridge Site. The town of Rangely is about 25 miles away and offers a small grocery store, liquor stores, and a few restaurants. A guest favorite is wild horse viewing. Wild horses can usually be seen within a few miles of the house. Along with wild horses we hope you have a chance to see some of the other resident wildlife including deer, elk, coyotes and occasionally bears.
