Craftsman style with beautiful woodwork details, this small studio is a perfect getaway at the base of Cerrito Blanco mountain in Abiquiu - the heart of Tewa country. Though the studio is small, there is a bright & equipped kitchen and a covered outdoor patio for enjoying dinner on warm summer nights! In colder months, we provide a space heater that keeps the inside space very warm and cozy. We are 1.5 miles from Bode’s General Store, very close to the Georgia O’Keeffe museum and Plaza Blanca.
This rustic artisan studio has a sleeping area with comfortable futon with a memory foam mattress topper that sleeps 2, a bright, well-equipped kitchen and a bathroom, as well as a covered outdoor patio. Gorgeous woodwork details adorn the entire place, and you'll surely enjoy having dinner on the covered porch, as well as coffee or tea in the morning! If you are looking for an inspiring, bright and beautiful space with stunning views of Abiquiu and the Rio Chama, look no further. This studio is perfect for a single person or couple. It is a cozy and tranquil place to call home while you explore the surrounding areas of Ghost Ranch, Plaza Blanca, Georgia O’Keeffe’s home/studio and museum, the Rio Chama and Abiquiu Lake. We supply fresh ground coffee, half & half, green and black tea and a French press coffee maker. We supply a fan and this side of the building stays somewhat cooler, especially the sleeping area. The kitchen runs hotter as it has a skylight. Why rustic? We say rustic because: 1. We have a sensitive septic system. The toilet cannot take toilet paper, so must be deposited in the covered wastebasket provided. 2. The shower is European style (free-standing), located inside the bathroom. A squeegee may be used to get excess water into the drain. So, a little rustic, yes, but always clean!
The studio is located less than 2 miles from the beautiful sandstone formations of Plaza Blanca & Dar Al Islam (the largest adobe structure in North America!), one of Georgia O'Keeffe's favorite painting locations. We are also a short 3 minute drive to Abiquiu Pueblo & Georgia O'Keeffe's home/studio, 6 miles from stunning Abiquiu Lake, 12 miles from Ghost Ranch, and 30 miles from Ojo Caliente where you can take a relaxing soak in the healing mineral springs. Nearby hikes take you off the beaten path, up to petroglyphs and 1,000 year old archeological sites. Abiquiu is a wonderful place in itself, and this sweet, truly unique studio makes a great home base for some memorable adventures. If you're planning to cook a lot during your stay, we recommend picking up groceries in Santa Fe or Taos. Bode's General Store (1.5 miles away) is pricey but well stocked.

With the exception of out-of-state healthcare workers, the "Casita in Ojo" is closed for the duration of the Covid-19 outbreak. We are accepting reservations for future dates. The cancellation policy is "lenient", in most cases requiring only 24hr. notice. The casita is a 1-bedroom cottage with a private patio and very close to the Mineral Springs and Spa. It is easy to find and ideally situated to see places such as: Rio Grande del Norte Monument, Santa Fe, Taos, and Ghost Ranch.
This casita is perfect for vacations, sabbaticals, or time away to get your book done, to plein air paint or photograph the area (Carson National Forest is a five minute drive away). It has a queen size bed and a love seat that converts to a small single bed. There are four local establishments to eat just a short walk away and a post office and a convenience store are a bit further. The casita is ideally situated to explore the magnificent, enchanted area. The host has degrees in history, traveled extensively and speaks English and conversational German. He lives in his own home on the property.
We are a 12 minute walk (or 2 minute drive) away from the Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs and Spa.

Ojo Caliente, Nowy Meksyk, Stany Zjednoczone

This is a very creative all solar adobe home in the high desert surrounded by gorgeous mountain views, yet within easy reach of the main roads. Enjoy the peace and quiet of pristine surroundings and wonderful hikes from your doorstep as well as many area attractions. Santa Fe is only 48 miles away.
Carson National Forest, BLM land, and Santa Fe Forest are all within 2 miles. Nearby attractions include the Abiquiu Inn; Georgia O"Keefe house; Ghost Ranch; Abiquiu Lake; Chama river rafting; Christ in the Desert Monastery; Ojo Caliente hot springs and spa; and Ra Paulette caves. The Chama Scenic Railway is 1 hour to the north. There are patios on three sides so you can always choose sunshine or shade. Each patio offers beautiful views and in summer beautiful gardens and flowers. Indoors is light filled and has 5 window seats from which to enjoy the scenery. Bedding and furniture coverings and rugs are all natural fibers. I receive great joy from both the home and the outdoors and hope visitors will find the same to be true. The couch is reasonably comfortable and the back cushions are removable should you choose this as an extra bed. The whole house is yours and from your doorstep you can walk along the El Rito River, or to BLM land or Carson National Forest. Enjoy the profound quiet, watch the Ravens play, listen to birdsong, and enjoy a starry sky or spectacular sunset with a 360 degree New Mexico sky. There are very few bugs so it is comfortable outdoors at any time of the day or night. Because this is a full solar home, guests are asked to use high draw electrical items such as hairdryer, washing machine, and clothes dryer only during sunshine hours. I have a separate apartment upstairs with separate entrance. You have total privacy but I'm available if you need anything.

T R A N Q U I L O A tranquil and rustic experience secluded yet easily accessible on a hillside below the stunning Cerrito Blanco in Abiquiu. This large, 24-foot yurt makes the perfect weekend or week-long getaway for a couple or family looking for a unique experience. Sip your coffee (an organic medium roast is provided) on the deck, practice yoga, meditate, read/write, gaze up at the Milky Way, bird watch and take in the beauty of the Chama River Valley, right in the heart of Tewa country!
T H E S E T T I N G Step outside and you’re in a high desert paradise, at 6,000 feet elevation in the Chama River Valley. Step inside the Yurt and marvel at the Central Asian decor, craftsman style with stunning woodwork details. There is a bright & equipped kitchen, bathroom with European-style shower, indoor seating area with a futon and breakfast bar, as well as a covered outdoor patio for enjoying dinner on warm summer nights. The Annex is located about 50 steps down a path (outside) from the Yurt. You will have to walk down the path from the Yurt to use the bathroom or kitchen. S L E E P I N G A R R A N G E M E N T S The yurt has a brand new Queen memory foam mattress as of January 2020, a twin bed with a trundle (also a twin), and a comfortable couch for another to sleep. In the main building (50 steps outside down a path) is another full size futon with a comfortable memory foam topper. The Yurt can accommodate 5 people comfortably. We are happy to answer any questions you have about the set-up, and we encourage you to read our reviews to get a better idea of this truly unique and unforgettable accommodation experience! A R U S T I C E X P E R I E N C E *This is a rustic experience and not ideal for guests with mobility issues or guests who are uncomfortable with keeping a wood burning stove going for heat in the middle of the night.* Please read ALL of the details before booking. Thank you :) Why we call this a "Rustic" experience: 1. You will have to walk outside about 50 steps between the Annex (Kitchen/Bathroom space) up to the Yurt. We are in the high desert, at 6,000 ft elevation. Bring slippers and a jacket and expect chilly weather at night! We will provide headlamps. 2. We have a rural septic system. All toilet paper must be discarded in the covered bin provided. 3. The shower is a standing, "in-bathroom" European style shower -- no doors or tub. A squeegee is provided to clear excess water into the drain after showering. 4. The Yurt can run hot in the summer months, especially June, July and August. Windows can be opened to provide more ventilation, but please be aware that in the heat of the day (between 12-5pm) it can get very warm in there. The Annex does have a futon couch and a very nice outdoor patio that gets great ventilation during the day, and is a great place to hang out. 5. In colder months (October-April), most guests will heat the yurt with the wood burning stove. We provide wood and kindling throughout your stay, however you'll be required to feed the fire hourly throughout the night to keep warm and cozy. We also provide space heaters to keep the chill off, if you prefer not to wake up and stoke the fire throughout the night, however it will be cold with just a space heater, especially on nights with below-freezing temperatures. Again, this is rustic and part of the experience. Most of our guests are happy to feed the fire. If you are highly sensitive to or uncomfortable with the cold, please consider booking the Yurt at a warmer time of year (May-September), or consider sleeping in the Annex -- a smaller space with a space heater that is much more efficient. Please let us know if you intend to do so, so we can make the bed there for you. 6. Rural living is rustic! There is wind! And dust! And sometimes small critters! We pride ourselves in taking great care of our guests, but if you're looking for a five star resort type of experience, this might not be the best place for you. Most of our guests leave with a very memorable experience, and many return! If there is anything we can do to make your stay extra special, please let us know.
The yurt is located less than 2 miles from the beautiful sandstone formations of Plaza Blanca & Dar Al Islam (the largest adobe structure in North America!), one of Georgia O'Keeffe's favorite painting locations. Abiquiu is a wonderful place in itself, and this sweet, truly unique yurt makes a great home base for some memorable adventures. If you're planning to cook a lot during your stay, we recommend picking up groceries in Santa Fe or Taos. Bode's General Store (1.5 miles away) is pricey but well stocked. There are just a few restaurants in Abiquiu. Mamacita's Pizzeria (closed Mondays), Bode's General Store has a deli with takeout and dine-in options, and the Abiquiu Inn has a great restaurant. A 20 minute drive to El Rito and you can experience a classic New Mexican family restaurant, El Farolito. Check the current hours and be sure to bring cash.

This cozy 2-story home sits on 10 acres of cottonwoods, sage, juniper & willow. A creek runs along the edge of the land with views of Cerro Pedernal & several mountain ranges. Animals welcome! We're within short distance of amazing hiking & hot springs including Plaza Blanca, Ghost Ranch & Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs. (If Raven is already booked, check out Hawk House also on our land!) Also offer licensed private massage +/ or Ayurvedic consultations upon request. Write host to inquire.
The house has a spacious upstairs loft bedroom with a queen bed, a full downstairs kitchen with living room and bunk bed, (2 stacked single beds), set apart enough to feel like it's an extra room, washer/ dryer, couch and full bathroom with jacuzzi. It is minimal and clean, with strong bones built in '07. It overlooks a valley of Cottonwood trees, sagebrush, willow and juniper, with lots of walking opportunities. For heating: I have the option of either a propane heater and/ or an electric infrared heater. Both are strong enough to heat the space on their own. I encourage folks to use the electric heater, when possible, as all of the land's electricity comes from our solar panels. But if you prefer/ need the extra help with propane heat, please be my guest. ;) Perfect for either the single artist, looking to be alone and with nature, and/ or a family or group, sleeping up to 4.

La Biblioteca is the enchanting guesthouse on a magical 10-acre property in Abiquiu, NM. Originally built as a library for the main house, it's now a unique 1-BR cottage. Nestled in the landscape made famous by Georgia O'Keeffe, the house has jaw-dropping views from every window and the porch. Fantastic for 1 or 2 people, and great for a couple with a child. Come visit O'Keefe Country and stay in the coziest spot of all! We absolutely rent to all races, genders, religions and backgrounds!
The Biblioteca is a 1-bedroom cottage deep in the landscape made famous by Georgia O'Keeffe. First it was a stone shed. Then a library was built nearby. Finally a rusted steel structure connected the two, and this extraordinary cottage was born! A bedroom with a couch, a kitchen/dining area and a lavish stone bathroom awaits your visit. There's no separate living room, but the front porch serves as a sitting area with views to swoon for! Come visit this eclectic abode in some of the most beautiful landscape in America!
This area of Abiquiu has some of the most beautiful views in the area. Houses are spread out and neighbors are few, but not nonexistent. You'll hear coyotes at night and if you're lucky, an owl.
Spędziliśmy 4 noce i odbyliśmy wycieczkę do domu / studia Georgia O'Keeffe + Ghost Ranch w jeden dzień, zjadłem obiad w Abiquiu Inn innej nocy i odwiedziłem Plaza Blanca innego dnia, +++ dużo odpoczynku w tym pięknym Airbnb!

As of late March, plans are to open the Ojo Cabin in June! This is subject to change depending on COVID 19 status. Summer is on the way. A mild winter led to an early and wet spring. Even if there are as few as 5 or 6 in your group it is a BARGAIN! CHECK IT OUT! You'll find free wi-fi and a full kitchen in the dining pavilion. The NEW kitchen provides more counter space and a better set-up is going to make this place even more of a great place to hang out! Visitors now PARK in the Bosque and approach the cabin via a one minute trail to the Ojo Suspension Bridge! Your private experience just got even better! Cooking is not allowed in the cabin but the pavilion is only a minute or two walk away. The new and beautiful pavilion is enclosed and kept warm for your visit. The space has carpet and laminate flooring, gas range, gas heater and is fully functional with a complete kitchen and hot showers. Optic fiber is here! We now have complimentary high speed internet available at the pavilion where you can relax in comfort in any weather! 'The Ojo', our name for the land, is a sanctuary for people and wildlife, and has a wild river flowing through it! We love animals, but please, NO PETS! Our trails, from easy to challenging, give you plenty to explore right here, with easy access into the fantastic neighboring wild BLM badlands! Hike our private Shadow Mountain Trail and have the entire Black Mesa top to yourself! Although you may be staying for only a night, to really appreciate this place we call 'The Ojo', consider spending more time here! The Ojo Cabin is cozy, think 'tiny house', and located in the heart of ' The Ojo' and within classic Bosque of Northern New Mexico; perfect for short or longer stays. The comfy BeautyRest queen bed has been moved downstairs for greater ease. The loft is now a place to lounge in the sun in the winter, hang out and enjoy the view or use it to stretch or do your morning yoga routine! For cold weather the cabin has propane heat. In 2020 power was brought to the cabin which creates a much easier experience for guests. The cabin has a bathroom/shower with hot/cold water and a 'Curve' RV type portable flush toilet. If you have any questions about how the cabin functions, special needs, etc. PLEASE ask before booking. We provide towels, bedding, extra sleeping pad/cot if needed, a light for night time forays, everything needed to make your stay easy! A two minute walk gets you to the PAVILION. Bring your own food and store it in one of our fridges. Better yet, eat out, Dave knows all the choices in the area! The cabin is located 45 minutes north of Santa Fe, 25 minutes from Abiquiu, one hour from Taos, and only a 10 minute drive to the Ojo Caliente Spa. Did you arrive here without sunscreen, lotion, shampoo/conditioner? We have you covered, and each morning of your stay, complimentary coffee/tea is available for you to prepare. The cabin sits on 116 acres of wild river, mesas, and nearby spectacular desert lands. Many bird species call this area home winter and summer! We are in the Bosque and summer nights are cool and winter nights are cold, but we almost always have pleasant sunny days. The Ojo Caliente river flows through the middle of our property, and directly in front of the cabin. We are wildlife friendly and in residence are beavers, raccoons, a variety of snakes (yes, in the summer occasional rattlers too), many lizards, squirrels, rabbits etc., with elk visiting nightly, yet NO negative interactions with animals has ever been noted. Trails give easy access to all areas of the property including the challenging hike (1000 vertical feet in just over a mile) up Shadow Mountain (winter ice may close trail). Walking the Cholla Labyrinth in the early morning is an amazing experience! We are close to many areas of interest in N. New Mexico, including America's latest National Monument. Skiing, climbing, hiking, biking, are all only minutes away, and Dave knows it all! We want to make the cabin your base for exploration! You will love our pedestrian suspension bridge, and our brand new Ojo Rainbow bridge guaranteed to shift your experience whether you have visited us before or not! Ask the host for more information! GPS map information by itself is incorrect and WILL NOT LOCATE our gate! You will be asked to download the free app 'what3words' once you have booked. With the three locator words that will be sent to you, locating the gate day or night is easy! We are ten miles south of the Spa on US 285. Sorry, pets are not allowed!

A twenty-foot Crow style tipi, in a cottonwood glen, on the banks of the Chama river. The tipi is private with its own composting outhouse. It shares a nearby blowup hot tube. A minute's walk away are an outdoor kitchen, outdoor hot water shower, infrared sauna, and deck. There are 2 twin and 2full beds on colorful rugs. Mosquito netting can be lowered. over each bed. Beautiful but rustic, it's like camping in a beautiful place in a beautiful tent--with a refrigerator.
Morning light through the canvas is beautiful. Sunset from the deck is beautiful. Standing under cottonwoods while hot water pours down is beautiful. All the beauty and difficulty of camping except that the camp has been set up for you, with hot water and a full kitchen.
Five minutes from Georgia O'Keefe welcome center. Five minutes from the O'Keefe tour. Twenty minutes from Ghost Ranch. On the Chama River.

Enjoy this cozy, second floor guest unit nestled on a quiet, magical 30 acre property, filled with trees + starry skies. Georgia O'Keefe Welcome Center is 5 mins away in Abiquiu. Easy access to Ghost Ranch, Santa Fe and Taos. Make this your base to explore northern NM and experience the landscape that has inspired countless artists! We are: a Vedic astrologer / Ayurvedic practitioner and a metal artisan with SF Bay Area roots. We welcome guests from all over the world + of all varieties. Cheers!
This is a great space to put your feet up and relax after a day of exploring the local sights and culture. Many people comment on how comfortable the bed is! Sink into rest, relaxation, and quiet. Need more space or beds for your group? We have another rental unit next door with a small efficiency kitchen, queen bed, and fold-out futon. Check out "Il Nido di Falco ("Falcon's Nest") For your convenience, in the cabinet near the table and chairs, we have a coffee pot, coffee, tea kettle, selection of tea, small refrigerator, toaster, cups, plates, glasses, silverware, wine bottle opener, etc. In the bathroom, there is a shower with towels, hair dryer, and fragrance-free shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Re: Air conditioning: Out here in New Mexico, where we have a dry climate, you'll often find evaporative coolers (aka "swamp coolers") instead of AC. It's a very effective cooling system, but isn't "air conditioning" per se. Pets are approved on a pet-by-pet basis, in advance. We charge an additional $25 cleaning fee to cover the costs associated with ensuring every single thing in the place is completely cleaned for the next person (who may have allergies). If you bring a pet without approval, we will charge an additional $75 cleaning fee. We are easily accessible on a paved County Road that has a short (maybe 100') section of dirt where the County Road goes through a little wash. Rental cars do fine. (FYI many roads in NM are unpaved.) There is no smoking allowed anywhere on the property, and we ask that shoes are removed upon entering the unit to help keep things clean. Thanks! Also, no parties allowed. We value the quiet out here! If you'd like to invite additional guests over, please check with us first.
We are on a quiet county road with large rural properties neighboring us, and surrounded by amazing natural beauty! Great place for birdwatchers to see eagles, hawks, woodpeckers, great horned owls, and many other species. Hiking, walking, and many wonderful places to visit nearby! 5 minutes to Georgia O'Keefe Welcome Center 20 mintues to Ghost Ranch 5 mile drive to Plaza Blanca (the White Place) 30 minutes to Ojo Caliente Hot Springs Spa About an hour to Santa Fe A little over an hour to Taos WANT TO SKI? Located in one of the most beautiful spots in the world, The Casita del Lago vacation home provides a unique lodging experience in an unrivaled lakefront location. Guests from as close as Santa Fe and as far away as New Zealand have discovered this spot in paradise, and many of them return year after year. This home is located on Abiquiu Lake, across the lake from Ghost Ranch, about 20 minutes outside of the village of Abiquiu in a spectacular setting away from the crowds and traffic.
The Casita del Lago (Little House on the Lake) is a custom adobe style home situated on 22 acres of lakefront property on Abiquiú Lake, inside a gated community. We designed the home to be situated in the rocky shore above Abiquiu Lake, with spectacular views of the lake and Chama River, Ghost Ranch, Cerro Pedernal, and Carson National Forest. Our guests have described it as "the most beautiful place on earth", "nirvana" and "the best vacation rental home they have ever stayed at". It is a special place, on special land, where you can truly experience the beauty and peace of The Land of Enchantment. The home has two bedrooms, two baths, a full and modern kitchen, an open concept family room, desk area and dining area, fireplace and laundry facilities. Outside, you will find heated patios, amazing spots to sit and take in the views, a BBQ grill, a hot tub built into the rocks, a fire pit overlooking the arroyo, a hiking path to the lake, 22 acres to explore, and a lakefront cove perfect for fishing and swimming. If you have kayaks, launch them at the nearby boat launch. THE HOME With 1,100 square feet of living space your vacation home will comfortably accommodate up to 6 people. The hand-carved wooden doors lead you into the open concept living space with comfortable couches, a fireplace, a desk, and bookshelf with games, puzzles and books. You will be welcomed by the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lake, the indigenous stone fireplace that warms the family room, and the authentic and comfortable furnishings. If you must, you can view cable TV on two high-definition TVs, use the complimentary WIFI or hook your phone up to the docking speaker system for music. The kitchen was remodeled in 2018 and is stocked with dishes, pots, pans, glasses, silverware, seasonings, spices and much more! The electric stove, refrigerator with ice-maker, microwave and dishwasher are all high-end and stainless appliances. A BBQ grill sits outside the sliding door on the back portal (patio). Enjoy your meals inside at a table for six that looks out onto the lake views or dine al fresco on the portal overlooking the lake. Or, be more adventurous and eat at the picnic table located amongst the rocks and trees. The two-bedroom suites are positioned at opposite ends of the home: the master has a king-sized bed, high-definition TV and ensuite bathroom and the guest suite has a queen bed and a set of twin bunk beds with a shared bath. Luxurious linens, plush towels and amenities are stocked so you can enjoy a perfect vacation. Full size washer and dryers are in the home, along with laundry supplies. The home is like no other in terms of design and amenities. Imported granite countertops, custom handmade Spanish Pueblo arched doors, imported Mexican furniture, resort quality bedding and linens, authentic southwest lit niches, handmade Kiva lighting sconces, plastered interior walls, radiant floor heat, top rated appliances, indigenous rock wood burning fireplace, air conditioning, modern technology, and furnished outdoor living spaces. The east and west portals are attached with heated floors and one-of-a-kind views. The southern portal just off the kitchen offers warm, sunlit days in even the coolest high desert New Mexico temps. We subscribe to cable TV and the fastest Internet in the area - and both are offered to you free of charge. We also include firewood, laundry supplies, BBQ supplies and many spices/seasonings. Authentic southwestern art lines the walls – and every picture tells a story. We are proud to feature several works by local artist Brian Thomas who recreates Abiquiú vistas using rock. As wonderful as the home is indoors, it is just as amazing when you step outside. Lounge chairs facing the lake are the perfect spot for morning coffee. The outdoor table has an umbrella to provide shelter from sunny days. Chairs and a picnic table are located in various spots throughout the 22 acres. A six-person hot tub is nestled into the rocks overlooking the lake – a perfect spot for star gazing. As one of our guests said, “I’ve never seen stars like this or the Milky Way come to life”. Outside you can also enjoy the Stonehenge Fire Pit on the edge of the arroyo or enjoy the Chimenea on the portal. Explore the 22 acres of open spaces and settle in to one of the many outdoor seating areas. Hike down to the lake through arroyos. Bring your fishing poles, kayaks and canoes! Being lakefront property, we have our own cove at the water’s edge where you can swim, fish, explore or relax. SURROUNDINGS Literally, you will feel as if you have stepped into a Georgia O'Keeffe painting right from your doorstep! The home is located on 22 acres of private Abiquiú lakefront property in a gated community with lake access. The drive to the home with the incredible Sedona-like views is worth the trip in itself! You will be amazed at the views that surround you and you will want to wake up early just to witness the break of dawn. Then settle in for an afternoon siesta on one of the outdoor daybeds; or curl up to a book; go down to the water; start a gourmet meal; sightsee (if you must); horseback ride; photograph; hike the arroyos on your property; draw, paint, write, dream, and much, much, more. The location provides an absence of both noise and light pollution. The lakefront property provides guests with lake access for swimming, fishing, hiking - or bring your kayaks or boat to explore the lake. There is a cove at the shore on our property where our kids love to swim. The 6-person hot tub is nestled among huge rock boulders just off the western portal and it reserves its own spectacular views for itself, especially at night when the billions and billions of stars come out. For the more adventuresome, a short hike to the 'Stonehenge Firepit' at sunset for a spectacular outdoor viewing and nighttime fire atop the arroyo is a perfect setting for s’mores and your favorite ghost story.
ABIQUIU LOCATION We have a deep appreciation for the land and its history of this area - from dinosaurs, to Native American pueblos and cliff dwellings, to Spanish explorers, to cattle wrestlers, to ghosts and witches, to Georgia O’Keeffe - all the way to our current age where the past history and culture blends with the artist colony that Abiquiú has become. The home is conveniently located to Georgia O'Keeffe's Home and Studio, Ghost Ranch, Echo Amphitheater, Monastery of Christ in the Desert, Plaza Blanca, Cerro Pedernal, and the Carson National Forest. You will also want to explore the Purple Adobe Lavender Farm, whitewater rafting down the Chama River, horseback riding through O'Keeffe country, the Ra Paulette Cave Tour, Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs and Pools, Native American pueblos, and other amazing sites. Plan easy day trips to Santa Fe, Taos, Cumbres and Toltec Railroad, and Bandelier National Monument. Of course, we also have guests who choose to never leave the home, and believe – like we do – that the location of the home on 22 acres of lakefront property is the highlight of their trip.

Winter has arrived in Northern New Mexico bringing cold, crisp nights below a stunning star-filled sky and sunny, mild days that are perfect for exploring. From Lyden you will be only a stone’s throw away from a multitude of attractions and activities: national monuments, modern-day Pueblo communities, Georgia O’Keefe’s home, Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs, hiking/biking trails, ski areas, birding and fly-fishing hotspots, and local restaurants. Check out "The Neighborhood" for more on this area!
The kitchen has all the utensils you might need to prepare your own meals. If you can’t find something you need, I’m happy to lend anything from my kitchen. Please wash the dishes and leave the kitchen as you found it. The tap water in the casita comes directly from my deep well. It is pure and fabulous. Guests will find a pitcher of cold water in the refrigerator and fresh mint to enjoy with it much of the year. There are two friendly dogs and two cats on the property. They may come around to see you, but please, don’t let them into the casita. Some guests may be allergic. Please hang your wet towels on the hooks in the bathroom.
Located in Lyden, New Mexico, a traditional community along the Rio Grande, this beautifully restored adobe casita offers unique access to some of the hidden wonders of Northern New Mexico. Casita del Bosque is a quiet getaway halfway between the must-see attractions of Santa Fe and Taos and just a scenic drive away from the Georgia O’Keefe home and museums at Abiquiu and Ghost Ranch. The casita is part of a two-hundred-year old adobe house that shares a wall with a capilla, San Jose del Bosque, a small chapel built to serve the early Spanish settlers of the village of Lyden, formerly known as El Bosque (The Woods). Restored in 2007 to reflect its early New Mexico beginnings, the casita has ceilings of vigas (log beams) and split cedar latillas between the vigas, and brick floors. The kitchen is fully equipped for those who wish to prepare meals. Guests will find an assortment of breakfast foods to prepare as well as homemade goodies, coffee and a variety of teas. Casita del Bosque sits at the base of the massive Mesa Prieta, which harbors tens-of-thousands of petroglyphs dating from the very earliest inhabitants of this region. Adventurous visitors who hike up its rocky slopes gain a spectacular view of the valley below and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains beyond. They may even experience the thrill of encountering ancient petroglyphs or a lone coyote along the way. For a more choreographed experience on the mesa, the Wells Petroglyph Preserve, less than a mile away, boasts the largest array of flute player petroglyphs ever recorded. The Preserve offers twice-weekly group tours as well as private tours that can be arranged in advance on their web page. If a tour is not available during your stay, hundreds of petroglyphs can be easily viewed from the road. Just a few miles to the south are the Pueblos of Ohkay Owingeh, Santa Clara and San Ildefonso, where practicing traditional Native American artists offer their sought-after artwork for sale. If the timing of your visit is right, you may have the privilege of experiencing a Pueblo feast day with traditional dances that are open to the public. In addition, several Pueblos operate thriving casinos for more modern entertainment options. A short drive away, the town of Española offers an appealing array of restaurants, many featuring traditional Northern New Mexican cuisine. While in town, stop by the visitors’ center and enjoy the gallery and gift shop operated by the Northern New Mexico Regional Arts Center at the Plaza de Española or the one hundred-year-old Chimayò Trading Post. A few minutes outside of Española is the beautiful Santa Cruz church where you can see the lovingly restored retablos and paintings that are precious to this vibrant church community. Fifteen minutes to the north of Lyden is Dixon, a tiny town known for arts and crafts, its thriving theatre scene, its wineries and its award-winning community library. Just beyond Dixon at the village of Pilar, is Orilla Verde National Recreation Area, the southernmost extension of one of our newest national monuments, Rio Grande del Norte National Monument. The road through Orilla Verde winds along the Rio Grande providing birders and fishers a unique opportunity to indulge their favorite pastimes. Alert visitors may even spot Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep along the canyon walls. You may access the famed High Road to Taos from Española. Once you turn east, you find yourself winding through beautiful New Mexico mountain villages including Chimayò, famed for its Santuario de Chimayò and traditional weavers. It is also home to Rancho de Chimayò, a favorite restaurant with locals and visitors alike. As you travel the High Road, you will be awed by the beauty of Truchas, nestled in the Sangre de Cristo range of the Rocky Mountains at 8,000 feet. Here you turn north, passing through several small villages. At Las Trampas take time to visit the San José de Gracia Church, a designated National Historic Landmark. As you leave Las Trampas, look carefully to the east to see an ancient aqueduct made of hollowed-out logs that still brings water from a mountain spring to irrigate the fields below. You will find endless opportunities to indulge your fancies in any direction from Casita del Bosque, whether they lean toward hiking, biking, skiing, historical exploration, petroglyph viewing, birding, fishing, rafting, photography, visiting with artisans in their studios and galleries or enjoying a scrumptious meal. The Casita del Bosque Guidebook provides you with contact information, including web pages, for many of the sites mentioned as well as many others in Northern New Mexico. Your time at Casita del Bosque will provide a memorable experience, one that you won’t find in a city or a hotel. Reserve today!

Tucked behind the Dixon Plaza, and situated directly above the Acequia de la Plaza, the Long House is one of the true gems in Dixon. Built in the 1700s and lovingly renovated in the 1990s, the Long House offers a unique and historic experience in the heart of Dixon. Centrally located off the Dixon Plaza, you'll be a five minute walk to the Coop, library, post office, and Zuly's Cafe. It's a great place to relax and enjoy Dixon and as a home base to venture and explore northern NM.
3/28/20 Update: Due to covid 19, orders given for people to stay home and my concern for my family and the communities of northern New Mexico, I have made some temporary changes. Since access to testing is a challenge and the symptoms can mimic the flu, if you or anyone in your party are sick in any way prior to your arrival date or, if you are traveling from a known hot spot of covid 19, please cancel your reservation as soon as possible. I've also removed the Instant Book option so that I have the option to connect with you prior to accepting a reservation. I increased the minimum stay to 5 days with a day blocked out on either side of each reservation, and I've also blocked out the rest of April. The extra day will allow for the additional cleaning and disinfecting that is recommended in between guests. Guests should still reach out to the caretakers prior to their arrival date, but face to face interactions with the guests will be kept to a minimum and phone calls and texts with the caretakers should be used. Since the washer and dryer are in the caretakers' living space, I've removed access to it to protect their them. I hope that you understand the intention to keep you and everyone safe during these unprecedented times, and hopefully soon, things will return to normal! While some businesses have temporarily closed, the Coop and Sugar Nymphs have remained open and are offering pick up and curb side options so you can get what you need. Call ahead to any of the places nearby to find out if they're open and their hours of operation. **** Having recently traveled to Europe and Canada, and having stayed in airbnb listed apartments managed by hosts who manage many properties with minimally equipped kitchens with sparse furnishings, I realized that the airbnb experience of being a guest in someone's home is becoming less common. The Long House was my mom's house, where my family and I have gathered since the early 90's. I built the Addition on the back of the Long House where she painted and practiced her photography and entertained friends and family from the area and all over the world. In that spirit, I have opened up my family home to the airbnb community. I am proud to let you know that this is my home and I live here too! The art and the furnishings and the kitchen (without a microwave!) are the way that I want it because I return each year with my family for extended stays. I work on the house and the property so that you too can enjoy being in this special place! New for 2019, I'm super excited to share that I laid flagstone on the back patio! I bought 4 tons of Colorado red flagstone from my friend Mark Saxe at Southwest Stoneworks, just up the road in Rinconada, and worked on leveling the ground and installing the flagstone. I've wanted to lay flagstone on the back patio for a very long time and I'm so happy that I had the time this year to get it done. In 2017, I replaced the kitchen countertops with granite and an undermount sink and new pulldown faucet, added a great, new sectional couch with lots of pillows and other new furniture, more lighting and floor coverings, and a new refrigerator to make the Long House even more comfortable and inviting! Check out the photos to see the new countertop, sectional couch and comfy chair in the living room, and all new photos of the rest of the house. Time spent at the Long House is the kind of quality time that we so rarely get elsewhere. The thick, adobe walls help to keep the house quiet and cool in the summer and warm in the winter. As there is rarely any traffic by the house, you will be amazed at how quiet it is. This summer, we awoke to the sounds of the Rio Embudo as there is still snow runoff rushing down the valley. The acequias are full, and the sounds of the wind and the rain and the thunder greeted us every day. The front porch is a great place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee and to greet the neighbors on their morning walk. The back porch is my favorite spot as the house is perched above the acequia and the lower fields that run to the river. The expansive view of the Dixon valley and the hills beyond is an inspiration. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are always a treat on the back patio table. The beauty of being in Dixon is that time seems to move more slowly. A walk up to the Co-op for some food or a little bit farther to La Chiripada Winery to get a bottle of wine for dinner is enough to break up a perfect day spent enjoying time being at home. Our neighbor's dog, Romeo, loves to make the rounds in the evening and will often stop by to say hello! He's super friendly and loves a good scratch by his tail. He's getting older now, and unfortunately is no longer able to control his bowels, so keep an eye out for him and his droppings! Named after its construction, the Long House was built by adding one room at a time from east to west in the 1700s. As the original family expanded and grew, another room was added next to the last room built. Room to room access used to be through doors that opened to the exterior, as there were no doors between rooms until much later. You’ll find that each room still has a door that opens to the exterior (except the bathroom), although the yoga room’s old exterior door now opens into the sunroom, which I added in the 1990s. Unique and lovingly renovated, the Long House encompasses 1800 square feet of living space and boasts traditional vigas with split cedar and rough cut, plank ceilings, 2.5’ thick adobe walls with traditional mud plaster on the exterior, and diamond point plaster on the interior walls. The secluded back porch area offers a wonderful setting for meals and a gorgeous view of the Dixon valley and Rio Embudo, while the front porch offers a wonderful view of the sunsets. As someone who loves to cook, the full kitchen has everything you'll need, including a new natural gas stove with oven, coffee grinder and maker, toaster oven, blender, frig/freezer and all the cooking utensils and pans you’ll need to enjoy a home cooked meal. A microwave you will not find, though. The master bedroom has a king size, Sleep Number bed, with a new, gel foam mattress topper, a wood stove to take off the chill, and private access to the back porch. The second bedroom has a queen size bed, private access to the front porch, and connects directly to the yoga/meditation room (with yoga mats included) and the adobe sunroom added onto the front side of the yoga room. The entire house is heated with radiant and baseboard heat, and each room has its own thermostat (except for the sunroom). The bathroom features a clawfoot bath tub for long, slow baths and modified for showers too. If you need to do laundry, the washer/dryer are located in the Addition, where my caretakers live. Just coordinate with the Gabrielle or Noel and they'll give you access to the laundry.
Early November each year, the Dixon Studio Tour features the renowned, local Embudo valley artists and their work. Visit their studios, talk to the artists and see their work from the past year. It's an exceptional opportunity to go places in the area that are only available during this weekend, and to purchase art directly from the artists. November in Dixon is not to be missed! The website has the listing of the artists and a map to their studios and a preview of what you'll find. Use your favorite search engine to check out the Dixon Studio Tour (for some unknown reason, airbnb won't let me show you the website address) According to my neighbor down the lane who teaches archeology at Barnard College and spends his summers in Dixon, the Dixon Plaza was the prior location of the Picuris Pueblo. Old pottery shards can be found on the lanes and pathways as you walk. And if you have the pleasure of visiting in the summer, be sure to check out the farmer's market each Wednesday starting around 3:30 pm in front of the Coop in June, July, August and into the fall!

A beautifully appointed Adobe home that can accommodate up to 5 guests nestled in the village of Abiquiu, which is considered uniquely beautiful and a quiet and serene escape from the everyday to recharge and rejuvenate. We provide a well-furnished house that is actually my family home so you won’t find a sparsely decorated “vacation rental”. We provide freshly delivered coffee, excellent wifi, and Direct TV as well as a wonderful local caretaker to help with just about anything.
My family home for the last 40 years, nestled in Abiquiu, in the beautiful Chama Valley, in Northern New Mexico. Abiquiu is a quaint and eclectic gathering of both native New Mexicans and those in the know. The house was completely remodeled in 2005 from the roof to the floors. All new kitchen and amazing bathroom await you and you won't find is a hastily appointed 'vacation rental,' this is our home, and it's been beautifully appointed with an eclectic combination of modern pieces and beautiful antiques. Far from stuffy and boring, this house can be your jumping off point for all sorts of adventures in northern New Mexico, whether you're venturing into Santa Fe to peruse art galleries or headed to Taos to enjoy some fun, this house can be your idyllic escape from the hectic every day of your life. It's such a beautiful and quiet place to be where the stars at night seem to go on forever. The experience of being in the village of Abiquiu is such a unique perspective on life. It's not like the polished, touristy side of New Mexico; this house is located in the same place that people settled hundreds of years ago in a government land grant and continued with their lives. The home is just a short walk to Georgia O'Keeffe's home and a short drive to Ghost Ranch. The area brings many repeat visitors and warrants new explorations with each visit. Take a drive into the Chama River Canyon to hike, visit the Benedictine Monastery, enjoy the hot springs at Ojo Caliente or simply embrace the enchanting nature of Abiquiu - allow yourself to enjoy it all. Please know that the house is located in the highest part of the village and the road can be slightly intimidating although we've never had any issues with guests accessing the house. The house has a over-step entry and a step from the kitchen to one of the bedrooms so anyone with a mobility issue could have a bit of a challenge. Also, for clarity, the main bedroom is accessed through the second bedroom and the bathroom and kitchen are also off the second bedroom. The house flows from one room to the next as with most traditional adobe homes. We recently had privacy mentioned as a concern but this is the only time this has happened but I try to be very clear with my guests so as not to mislead anyone. Additionally, the tub and shower are set up on a bit of a riser so please bear in mind that it can be a little bit tricky getting in and out of for someone with mobility issues so please be careful. The house resides in a rural community consisting of dirt roads which a few guests have found surprising. They are generally in good condition for most vehicles but we want our guests to be informed of this. Please be aware that this house sits next to other homes in a compound-like setting and that there are people around and there can sometimes be noise during the day. We ask that our guests be flexible, understanding, and practice open communication when it comes to the neighbors and things such as parking and occasional noise. These are good people just living their lives, just know it's not an isolated vacation rental. If you're looking for a unique experience, this is the house for you! Please be aware that we charge a one time $25 pet fee for our guests traveling with their animals. Please let us know beforehand if you'll be bringing a pet and I'll send you a customized invoice. If you bring a pet and it is not disclosed during the booking process, we will charge a $75 fee.
It's a unique, wonderful community comprised of multi-generational families as well as many newcomers discovering the beauty and serenity of Northern New Mexico. Abiquiú is a small unincorporated town located in Rio Arriba County, in northern New Mexico in the southwestern United States, about 53 miles (85 km) north of Santa Fe. In the 1730s, it was the third largest settlement in the Spanish province of Nuevo México. Artist Georgia O'Keeffe lived there from 1949 until shortly before her death in 1986 at 98 years of age. You'll find many more highlights and interesting facts about the village with a simple internet search. Abiquiú was the starting point of the pioneering route of the Old Spanish Trail. This first route, the Armijo Route, was led by Antonio Armijo of Santa Fe, with sixty mounted men and a caravan of pack animals carrying blankets and other trade goods to barter for mules in Alta California. Armijo's caravan left on November 6, 1829, made the journey from Abiquiu to San Gabriel Mission in eighty-six days, arriving on January 31, 1830. He returned by the same route in 56 days, leaving March 1st and arriving back on April 25, 1830. Unlike the other routes of the Old Spanish Trail, Armijo's route was documented day by day by him, although in a very brief report listing dates and stopping places with few details and no distances recorded. It was submitted to the governor José Antonio Chaves and published by the Mexican government on June 19, 1830

Miał wszystkie udogodnienia potrzebne do udanego pobytu. Kawa i wino były ogromnym bonusem, więc dziękuję! Uwaga: jeśli próbujesz znaleźć to miejsce, postępuj zgodnie z pisemnymi wskazówkami Burka, mapa i mapy google zabrały nas w niewłaściwe miejsce.

5 gwiazdek!!

  • Miejsce Burka to klejnot. Mieliśmy więcej niż wystarczająco miejsca, wygodne łóżko i wszystko, czego potrzebowaliśmy. Lokalizacja w sercu starego Abiquiu była dla nas idealna. Na pewno wrócimy!

The Casita at Prado Verde Ranch The Casita at Prado Verde Ranch has a rustic feel and will take you back in time. Located on the Rio Chama River, and is on a 55-acre working ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico. This is a cozy one bedroom/one-bathroom adobe casita close to the main house but private and a 7 minute walk to the river. There are wonderful views of the pasture and barns.
It once was used as a bunkhouse for the ranch hands and thought to be as old as the main house, 200+ years. This extraordinary property was the headquarters of what had originally been an 11,000-acre ranch running thousands of cattle. This land was once inhabited by Anasazi Indians, so taking a walk in the pasture area you might find pottery shards. From the late 1920’s to the early 1940’s it was used to raise thoroughbred racehorses. Prado Verde Ranch is now home to Newell Cattle, Grass fed and Grass finished beef. It serves as winter pasture for the cattle and also calving in the spring (everyone’s favorite time of year). There are also four horses that call it home year-round and one ranch dog. The Casita is located in Georgia O’keeffe country surround by the red rock bluffs and mesas of the Chama River Valley. It is seven minutes to the Georgia O’keeffe Visitor Center and Home & Studio Tour, as well as the Abiquiu Inn and Gift shop. The Lavender Farm is only five minutes away. Bode’s, the general store and a must stop is only ten minutes away. Eight minutes to Plaza Blanca hiking area. Fifteen minutes to Abiquiu Lake. 20 minutes to Ghost Ranch. 30 minutes to the Mineral Springs in Ojo Caliente, just an hour away from Santa Fe. You can make a day of skiing or snowboarding it’s only 1 ½ hours from Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Sipapu, and Taos ski hills.

Escape to the natural beauty of the Embudo River Valley in this private, quiet casita on a 5+ acre property in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountains. Located in the village of Dixon, this is the perfect jumping off point for ski trips to Taos, Sipapu, and Sante Fe, for snowshoeing or cross country skiing, or visits to Ghost Ranch and Ojo Caliente. Visit local wineries and the majestic Rio Grande del Norte National Monument. Enjoy long mornings and evenings relaxing by the fire.
Bosque Cottage is our beautiful property which includes the main house, a small art studio, a tiny house, a garden, and the casita. The property is on the Embudo River and the bosque (forest) that lines the river. The approximately 900 square foot, straw bale casita is bermed into a hillside approximately 50 yards (150 feet) from the main house and is situated for maximum privacy. When inside, the thick, straw bale insulated walls add to the quiet and keep the space cool in summer and warm in winter. The space has a mini split air conditioner for those hot summer days. In the winter the casita is warmed with radiant in-floor heating, the mini split heater, and a wood stove fireplace. The artist owned and decorated space features a modern aesthetic with rustic touches, a rotating collection of small-scale works of contemporary art, and a beautifully designed patio with sunset views of the surrounding hills and mesas. The patio has a chiminea fire pit, a charcoal grill, shade, seating, and lighting. The shade is removed in winter to let in more sunshine. Off of the patio is a short trail that leads to an arroyo which can be explored by guests. One bundle of firewood and firestarter are provided for the chiminea and/or wood stove. Additional firewood (with firestarter) can be purchased for $5.00 per bundle. The kitchen is stocked with organic olive oil, organic cooking oil, coffee, coffee filters, sugar, salt, pepper, and some other basic spices. We also provide basic cookware, dishes, utensils, a coffee maker, and an ice maker. There is a stackable washer/dryer in the kitchen with eco-friendly laundry detergent. Note that the washer is appropriate for light loads only. The television streams Netflix, Hulu, and Hulu Live, which provides many cable and local channels. Guests can also play music using the Pandora app on the television. In the bathroom we provide Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Tingle shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Stairs lead off the living room to the loft bedroom with a queen sized bed. Downstairs in the living room, a chair folds out to a comfortable twin bed (this is the “sofa bed”).
Dixon is a small, agricultural community famous for its orchards. The community is very diverse and peaceful. The Sipapu Ski Resort, a favorite of locals, is just 30 minutes away. About the same distance are areas good for sledding, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. The casita is just 25 minutes from Taos and 45 minutes from Santa Fe, and all of the cultural attractions these cities have to offer. Drive 20 minutes in another direction and you will be high in the Sangre de Cristo mountains where opportunities for hiking, fishing, and enjoying nature abound. About one mile from the casita is the Dixon Co-op Market, a small but well-stocked grocery store and deli. The village has a restaurant, Zuly’s, which has excellent New Mexican food and a patio. There are three wineries very nearby, one within walking distance. Access to the Rio Grande National Monument (a.k.a., “the gorge”) is approximately 10 miles from Bosque Cottage and not to be missed.

Vintage single wide mobile home. Secluded, quiet, rural high desert setting. Elevation is approximately 5800' above sea level. Deck has stainless steel BBQ grill, table, 4 chairs & spectacular views of sunrise over the Sangre de Cristo Mtns and the Rio Grande River. No light pollution for star gazing.
You will love northern New Mexico. It is arid high desert. The elevation is approximately 5,800', you will need to stay hydrated to avoid altitude sickness, in other words, a headache from hell. The house is on five (5) acres, very quiet and remote about 35 miles north of Santa Fe. 30 miles south of Taos. 18 miles east of Abiquiu. Strategic location to all points of interest, for example: Abiquiu- Home of Georgia O'Keefe. Ghost Ranch Education & Retreat Center. Christ in the Desert Monastery. Plaza Blanca. Los Alamos/White Rock- Los Alamos National Lab. Bandelier National Park. Pajarito Ski Area. Valle Caldera. Golfing. Ojo Caliente Spa and natural hot springs Taos- Taos Ski Valley. Taos Pueblo. Taos art community. Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. Earth stations. Santa Fe- Santa Fe Ski Basin. Indian Market. Spanish Market. Historic Plaza de Santa Fe. Canyon Road. Loretto Chapel. And finally, northern New Mexico is saturated with Native-American casinos; Taos, Ohkay Owingeh, Espanola, Pojoaque, and Tesuque.
Obviously, the sitting is rural. You will need to drive into Espanola, Taos or Santa Fe for a good restaurant. The neighborhood is quiet, very dark when we're between full moons. But, during a full moon, it is magical outside. We experienced a full lunar eclipse and it was unforgettable!
