We are set in a hamlet which dates back to 1394. Ancestors of the original landowners still live in the village and take an active interest in the community. There are plenty of scenic walks around the area and the Long Mynd stretch of hills is within easy access. There is no shop or pub in our hamlet but the town of Craven Arms is only 2 miles away. It has a well stocked supermarket, post office, bakery and a few cafes and takeaway restaurants. The village of Wistanstow is only a couple of miles by road or a 20 min hike across the fields . It has its own brewery attached to the local pub The Plough and a village shop. The medieval town of Ludlow, is a mere 15 mins drive and has a regular market, lots of independent shops and restaurants. Ludlow is renowned for its locally sourced organic food and hosts two food festivals every year. Church Stretton is a pretty market town only 6 miles away and makes a great base for walking up to the summit of the Long Mynd.

  • Pobyt u Janice wykracza daleko poza typowe doświadczenie Airbnb.

Mieliśmy wspaniały pobyt i doskonałą wartość.

    Laura2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
Wysoce polecany.

  • Gorąco polecamy pobyt u Jana i Jerry'ego.

    Jet2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Wspaniali gospodarze, piękny dom i niesamowite domowe (wegańskie) ciasto. Wysoce zalecane!

    Anthony2019-10-27T00:00:00Z

    Chris2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Bardzo przytulny pokój z piękną łazienką i niesamowitym wystrojem! Janice i Jerry są wspaniałymi i interesującymi gospodarzami.

Our Barn is nestled in a peaceful valley south of the Shropshire Hills, filled with birdsong and bees. The spacious, modern living areas have vaulted beamed ceilings and the characterful upstairs master bedroom has an en-suite. You can walk to Stokesay Castle, taking in the far reaching views, or drive to historic Ludlow in just 15 minutes. You will have access to a wildflower garden and sun terrace, with a view of Titterstone Clee. Our thatched cottage is next door and we are dog friendly.
Our Barn is detached with a private entrance and parking. The spacious living area has two sofas, coffee table, a log effect fire and Smart TV with a Freesat Humax box. It is adjacent to the modern kitchen which has a microwave and Stoves oven featuring two electric ovens, a grill and 5 gas rings. The feature staircase leads to the master bedroom which has a double bed and Egyptian cotton bedding with a beautiful handmade quilt. Steps lead down to the en-suite which features a relaxing slipper bath as well as a toilet and basin. There is also a downstairs shower room with an electric shower.
Walking is a joy from the Barn. A bridleway runs past our land and links with the Shropshire Way. There are many choices of footpath taking in the breathtaking views over the Teme valley towards Ludlow and the Stretton Hills. Dog owners, please note the land may have livestock. Our favourite things to do: Park at Ludlow Leisure Centre, then walk into Ludlow along Dinham and the castle walls to the Local to Ludlow Cafe in market square or the Green Cafe by the river Teme. Browse the local market stalls, the famous hardware shop, Rickards or the small independent food shops. Visit the museum, castle or the Ludlow Assembly rooms, enjoy a drink in the traditional Victorian Pub, The Dog Hangs Well and return for a spa at the Leisure Centre. Walk the Shuts of Shrewsbury to see the historic architecture and independent small shops and cafes. See a show at the SevernTheatre or a film above the Old Market Hall. Visit a festival such as Abor Tree Dressing in Aston upon Clun, the Green Man Festival in Clun or the numerous Ludlow festivals, including the infamous Ludlow Food Festival.

Attractive barn-conversion situated on a small courtyard development in the idyllic / rural village of Culmington (4 miles from Ludlow). Features a large open-plan living room / kitchen and dining room. Two double bedrooms.
Originally founded as an agricultural building in the 1830s, the structure has undergone numerous renovation works during its century-old history; now known as ‘Emerald Lodge’, the cottage enjoys a new-lease of life as a cosy country-retreat within a short drive of Ludlow.
Culmington, a south Shropshire village, is situated about 4 miles north of Ludlow and 25 miles south of Shrewsbury. It lies on the border of a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village is small, but as a parish, the boundaries embrace the hamlets of Vernolds Common, Seifton and the land below the brook that crosses the lane leading up to Westhope. A short drive away you will find yourself in the ancient market town of Ludlow, offering a multitude of quaint shops, pubs and restaurants. Besides the obligatory tour of Ludlow's 11th century castle, you are strongly encouraged to sample an ale in the local brewery and swing-by Ludlow Food Centre (where farming, food production and retailing come together to create a very special environment). We are confident you will love Ludlow as much as we do, but should you need any recommendations or ideas of what to do, please ask.

Away from the crowds, the annex at Upper Norton Barn is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, close to historic town of Ludlow. The annex offers luxurious self-contained accommodation with its own sun terrace in a fabulous rural location with self-service breakfast and en-suite room with rural walks straight from the door. (Please note that the annex is accessed via wooden steps. We offer self-service breakfast, it is not a self-catering apartment. We do not provide Wi Fi).
The position of the annex is above outbuildings at the rear of our property. It is situated in a fabulous rural location with magnificent views away from the road. A stone track takes you across a large pasture into a small homestead. The annex accessed up some steps and is a characterful conversion with oak beams and is tastefully decorated throughout with a contemporary feel.
We love our rural position. It is close to the facilities and amenities of Ludlow, Church Stretton and Longmynd (just a few minutes drive away) but is peaceful and secluded with gorgeous walks and surrounded by glorious countryside.

My cottage is the converted stable of Sally, the pony belonging to the children of author Malcolm Saville, of Lone Pine fame. It is a perfect space for a peaceful, cosy getaway, built of solid Ludlow stone and has lots of character. My garden is full of birds which visit the many feeders and are wonderful to watch from the porch area of the property. The cottage nestles within the large garden. A great base for walking the Shropshire hills and for getting away from it all. Amenities 3 miles.
Super-comfortable king-sized bedroom looking out to views of the Long Mynd; kitchen, bathroom, sitting room -cum-dining room; books, dvd's, wifi, outer porch with table and chairs; bird food supplied-please ask- the garden is visited by all sorts of birds including goldfinches, woodpeckers, long-tailed tits, many different finches etc, sometimes pheasants parade with their wives in the garden. I am happy to host you for three nights minimum stay. The bed is made up with high quality bedding from The White Company or equivalent, and you will be lulled to sleep under a goose-down duvet and sumptuous pillows. There is also an electric blanket for chillier winter nights. In low-season I can offer two nights minimum but ask that you bring your own linen. Towels are provided.
You will be coming to a very rural and secluded place, at the top of a track, unseen from the road, looking out on to beautiful scenery all around. Car is essential!
