This gorgeous, recently renovated 1920's home features its own private garden, a welcome green oasis in the bustling metropolis of Mexico City. Spend the morning exploring the neighborhood, then retire for a siesta or afternoon coffee on the terrace. This house is the residence of a travel writer and her partner, a renowned Spanish artist. Once owned by Mexico’s Secretary of Education, Jaime Torres Bodet (a founder of our world famous Anthropology Museum) it has been painstakingly restored by the current owners in keeping with the true essence of the property, while adding a personal touch with furniture, objects and art they have collected from all over the world. This is one of the few houses in Mexico with European central heating. ( a must to have during winter ) The house has two stories and a mezzanine. On the main floor is the living room with original chimney and wood floors, kitchen, and dining room that seats 8 people and looks onto a peaceful garden. This floor also contains a half bathroom. On the mezzanine level there’s a Japanese futon and an 1800’s piano—a perfect nook to read, relax, or make music. On the second floor you’ll find the master suite with its own bathroom, balcony and separate TV room that can be used as an extra bedroom with a very comfortable Full bed. When the TV room is used as a bedroom it has his own entrance. Two additional bedrooms on this level share another bathroom: one has a queen-sized bed, the other two twin beds that can be joined to form a king-sized bed. Linens are of the finest quality Egyptian cotton. The house is fully serviced. Our housekeeper Ceci will spoil you with fresh orange juice and a selection of fresh fruit, bread, and homemade jam. And, of course, there’s fresh ground Mexican coffee and an excellent selection of fine teas. (We also offer options for vegan travelers.) Really well connected! Ceci the house keeper is an amazing cook. She will cook hot breakfast, lunch and dinner upon request. She usually do all the cleaning in the morning, but she can stay longer if you need her. We like to give our guests delicious hot Mexican breakfast. We like them to taste real Mexican home cooking. We are open to vegan, vegetarian, or any specific diet. Luis the maintenance guy will go to the house only is there is a problem to be fixed.

The metro station Chilpancingo is a 10-minute walk away, a private taxi stand is 5 minutes away, as well as an Ecobici bicycle exchange station. This is a 57 square meter apartment with very high brick ceilings, a large living room and dining area with a lot of light. Find authentic chic mid century furniture and several art pieces. A lot of original architecture details from 1940 like floors, brick walls, ceiling and windows frames were conserved in the restoration. The project was recently featured in Architectural Digest Mexico and won several important architecture prizes: Architecture Masterprize and NoldiSchreck. Guest may use the whole apartment. You can also hang out in the inner patio of the condo and first floor lobby. There is also a laundry room with washer and dryer you can use next to the garage. Santa María La Ribera is a historic 19th-century neighborhood. Stroll in the Alameda Park opposite, then visit the nearby Museo de Geología. Here, gaze at mammoth and dinosaurs fossils, plus paintings by the famous Mexican master Jose María Velasco. You'll find a lot of public transportations options including subway, metrobus (direct line to the airport and historic center), train, bus and public bike system (ecobici). Metrobus Linea 4 norte is a direct connection from the airport T1 and T2 to Buenavista and back. Takes about 45 min. 30 Pesos/person, a rechargable Metrocard is need. Safe, quick and direct way to and from the airport.
