Popular for Nakanojo Biennale tourism. MAYUDAMA HOUSE is a renovated old-Japanese art house with 140 years of history. Built in the late Edo period, when the Shogunate was reigning, this house was used as a silk mill in the 19th century. Surrounded by lush nature, the house nests in a region with deep forests and hot springs. One of the nearby hot springs is Kusatsu which is one of the most famous in Japan, where the Shogun came to rest, and became a model for the ghibli film “Spirited Away”.

While staying at this inn, you can enjoy hot springs that Japan is proud of, such as Kusatsu Onsen, Shima Onsen, and Ikaho Onsen, within a 30-minute drive, so we recommend staying for multiple nights. In winter, winter sports such as those at Kusatsu Onsen Ski Resort and the hot springs are popular. We also introduce local spots, so please feel free to enquire.
