Fire pit, picnic table, outhouse bathroom. Rustic, simple, beautiful!

Camp Canon - Primitive, Yet Comfortable

This campsite is created and dedicated to my beloved yellow lab, Canon (2006-2022) It was one of his favorite areas. It’s a peaceful area tucked away at the bottom of a cliff line with stack stone walls well over 200 years old. We live on site and have a “free range” pup Be ready to expect Roxxie anytime. She might bark at first but just say “Hi Roxxie!” And she’ll smile and come wagging her tail for pets and cuddles if you let her. There is no running water, hence the "primitive" title!

Enjoy dinner at a variety of local venues, Arrowood, Mill and Main and more. Visit local towns such as Woodstock, New Paltz, Ellenville and Phonecia. Your tent is equipped with two queen beds to accommodate up to 4. A propane heater is included to keep you warm. Kitchen ware, gas bbq, and firepit are included.

Stay in a spacious canvas bell tent with 1 double bed and 2 single beds at AOS R&R, Arts On Site Residency and Retreat Center. The tent is located on 19 acres of pristine nature in the Shawangunk mountains, minutes from Minnewaska State Park, and hikes to waterfalls and high mountain lakes. Guests can stay in the forest and enjoy the amenities of our retreat center, including the cedar barrel sauna, communal kitchen and bath house. It’s a great location to relax and immerse in nature.

Stunning location with all the amenities for a truly memorable fall or winter adventure. Snuggle by the fire, hike the woods, or read a book in the comfort of your tent. Please note that in the winter months steady attention to wood stove is essential! Loading wood is required every 4 hours and takes some skill but with patience is extremely rewarding and tent will stay an easy 70-80 degrees. Although there is also an electric heater, this is sufficient only down to freezing.

The Tent is the perfect retreat away from all the noise for writing, creating or connecting with friends at this elegant and peaceful hike-in site only 500 feet around a serene pond.

Our off-grid canvas tent is situated at the edge of a meadow, surrounded by blueberry bushes. It's just 4.5 miles to Main St in Livingston Manor, and 35 minutes to Bethel Woods. We provide a full-size bed (w/ heated mattress pad), fire pit, firewood, propane heater, and solar power. You have access to a private outhouse with composting toilet & outdoor shower on-site, and a conventional shared bathroom if you preferred. We are an LGBTQ+ inclusive space.
