The Gion House, Lower level apartment

The Gion House Lower Level is the entire ground floor of the house. Its features include elegant antique sliding doors, antique light fixtures, and traditional design details, combined with luxurious, modern features like radiant heating under the wooden floors, an oversized stone bath area, and wireless high-speed Internet. The bath and kitchen are entirely new and modern and fully equipped. There is a washer and dryer. This unit has a large, traditional "genkan" with stone step, which is typical of Japanese machiya. After removing your shoes, you step up, into a warm and cozy environment, with many architectural features that are particular to a traditional Japanese house. Whenever possible, natural materials are used...wood, paper, tatami, glass, and steel. One can see that modern elements have been integrated with the old ones. There is radiant heating under the floors, to keep the room warmer in the Winter than your typical heating system. There is a fully equipped kitchen with high quality utensils and ceramic dishware made in Kyoto. There are two bedrooms. One is Japanese style, with a double futon on the tatami mat floors and ceilings of washi (traditional Japanese paper.) The other bedroom has wood flooring, with a very solid and comfortable double bed. Both bedrooms have ample closet space. The living area is adjacent to its own interior garden, which is private. There is a sofa, and there is also a dining table placed over a traditional Japanese "horikatsu," an open space in the floor, which allows for comfortable seating. Throughout are antique lighting fixtures and sliding doors, in addition to antique tansu chests and intricately handcrafted woodwork, which is also antique. The exceptional design feature of this unit is the high-end, custom-built bath and shower area, which is made of stone. The oversized bath tub large enough for three persons. There is a private view of the interior garden from the bath tub. The house is over 100 years old. You'll enjoy the luxury and ambiance of the Gion House, and the location can't be beat for a memorable Kyoto experience in the very special part of town called Gion. Kyoto accommodation tax of ¥400 per person per night is included in rates.

This house is located near Kiyomizu Temple, and it is very convenient for visiting by walking distance many other famous temples, shrines, downtown Gion area, the most famous Geiko district! The house is traditional wooden house with modern equipment! This house is a unit fitted out into a house divided into three housing. However You don't share anything with other guests.

*Check-in ~ 20:00. My house is Japanese traditional and modern house in the center of Gion area. There are a doublebed in the bedroom and futon in the tatami room. You could expereince the wonderful stay! On the 1st floor, there is a traditional Kyoto garden, which can be overlooked from the large windows. It is very nice to light up at night. 3minutes walk to Yasaka Shrine, Maruyama Park and Shijo Dori. 5minutes walk to Kiyomizu temple. It's very convenient for sightseeing and shopping ！

Reikaku Yasaka was a building in ruins with the floor tilted by at least 30cm when we discovered this hidden jewel. The restoration was particularly difficult due to the state it was in but our craftsman’s determination to bring this Machiya back to its formal glory paid off for Reikaku Yasaka. The result is Japanese craftsmanship at its best and we are very proud to be able to share the result with the rest of the world. Check our other house as an alternate option @ Reikaku Kiyomizu-Gojo
