Drive up to Mayport, eat at Safe Harbor or Singletons (another DD & D), take the ferry across the St. Johns river, visit Little Talbot Island. The beach there is beautiful. If you walk to the left you will see drift wood sculptures and natural dunes and not a lot of people. You can continue to drive to Amelia Island, which offers shops and restaurants.
