Tūroa is one of New Zealand's largest ski areas with the nations longest vertical drop at 722m. Tūroa's 'High Noon Express' 6 seater chairlift reaches the highest lifted point in New Zealand where you'll feel on top of the world... well, on top of the North Island at least! We're open from July through to October for epic skiing and riding.

One of the most beautiful drives in New Zealand and gateway to fantastic walks and fabulous ski slopes. 17kms of rainforest to subalpine then alpine terrain, incredibly scenic.

Turoa skifield is located on the southwest slope of Mt Ruapehu, centered in Tongariro World Heratage National Park. it is considered by many as the best natural terrain skifield in NZ, and tends to have a deeper snow base than the northern skifield Whakapapa.

If you are a powder hound or simply sight seeing, this is the first port of call, Turoa is an amazing ski field on Mt Ruapehu, an active volcanic ski field, how awesome is that! If its summer I recommend a bike trip down the Old Coach Road.
