West Kill Mountain is one of the 35 peaks in the Catskill Mountains that is over 3,500 feet in elevation. The climb involves an ascent of about 1,700 feet in elevation over 3.4 miles (most of the elevation gain is concentrated into a single mile).

It is one of my favorite hiking trails. Although I've never claimed to the top, it's a very mild incline and easy walk up to the bridge and I’ve heard that it gets tough. The scenery is gorgeous. Stop by at the Westkill Brewery for a beer afterward.

Little further to get to but worth it - easy hike to Diamond Notch falls with a great waterfall / swimming hole, then around the back side of Hunter. Or start a little earlier on Spruceton to hike up Hunter / firetower, and all the way across to Devil's Tombstone
