The museum is open at Saturdays and Sundays, public holidays and school holidays from 2:00pm to 5:00pm and at other times by prior arrangement for group visits. It includes displays of relics from some of the shipwrecks and ships that were essentially the primary means of access before the Great Ocean Road and of the life of what was an extremely isolated community.

Visitors love the Cable Station museum dating back to 1836 when it was the main undersea link with Tasmania and the Australian mainland. Here you can enjoy Apollo Bay's maritime history. Don't forget to check out the Casino's anchor near the Bay of Eden fruit shop. The Casino sank off Apollo Bay and its shell can be viewed from Mariner's lookout.
