Reikaku Yasaka | Gion | Historical Machiya

Reikaku Yasaka was a building in ruins with the floor tilted by at least 30cm when we discovered this hidden jewel. The restoration was particularly difficult due to the state it was in but our craftsman’s determination to bring this Machiya back to its formal glory paid off for Reikaku Yasaka. The result is Japanese craftsmanship at its best and we are very proud to be able to share the result with the rest of the world. Check our other house as an alternate option @ Reikaku Kiyomizu-Gojo

kyoto villa soso (Near Kyoto station)

You can also use wifi. The bath is about the size of two adults and uses Japanese cypress. It will be a very beautiful room just opened in January. Please try and stay at once. The location of the hotel is in a place where you can walk to downtown area of Kyoto and famous temples. It is a very convenient place.

This Kyoto Machiya "Mitsuishi" is a renovated house in Ebisubambacho, Kyoto. It belonged to the household of Bamba, who has traditionally lived and prospered in Ebisubamba. It is a government approved accommodation so it is safe and reliable. When renovating the house, we tried our best to keep or reproduce traditional structures such as the pillars, walls, and dirt floor, while replacing the bathroom with new modern facilities. *Lodge tax will increase from 200p.p. to 400p.p. from 2026.3.1

The house was an Ochaya (literally "tea house")before and we renovated it, which is an establishment where patrons are entertained by geisha. We kept the original structure and make it much more modern and comfortable. The river in front of the house is the must-see in Kyoto changing from cherry bloom to maples. The best location near Gojo bridge and Kiyomizuーgojo sta. can make it very convenient to all the famous spots.

Originally built as a traditional teahouse in Kyoto’s geisha district, this historic house preserves many original details, including a second-floor space once used for geisha performances. The restoration was designed by Kyoto machiya architect Shigeyuki Uoya, blending traditional structure with modern comfort. A quiet stay inside a rare piece of Kyoto’s flower district culture.

Kyoto's Renovated Machiya - Ieno House

Ieno House is one of the traditional machiyas (townhouses) in Kyoto, built more than 70 years ago. The architectural design was carried out by Shigenori Uoya at the Shigenori Uoya Architects and Associates in Kyoto, and a full renovation was carried out while inheriting the original elements of Kyoto-style machiya.
