I am an Artist / Photographer born in Kyoto I started hosting because I love meeting people from all over the world and making new friends. This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. Private cypress bath and renovated rooms and made another entrance for the Guests. So now it is 2 separate house Please check the house rules before you book.

The location of the hotel is in a place where you can walk to downtown area of Kyoto and famous temples. It is a very convenient place.

Opened in the spring of 2022 and we're truly grateful to have so many repeat guests. Private lodging for one group per day. Close to Kyoto Station. you can get to almost anywhere in the city without changing trains or buses. You can also use 2 bicycles for free. There are many cafes, hot spa and restaurants nearby for dining. Try to visit Kyoto Aquarium and Kyoto Railway Museum in Umekoji Park if you have spare time. Looking forward to having you!

Private Japanese House with Garden

Kumo machiya Kazahaya was all made by woods, we keep the original style. The structure of this villa is つしにかいtsushinikai. Since Edo period, this kind of design was to ensure all the civilians are not stand on 2nd floor to look while the Samurai passing by, so the 2nd floor is short than 1st floor. Another feature of this villa is むしこまどmushikomado. Normally this kind of window on 2nd floor, looks like a cage of bug.

Tabitabi Shinsen | Kyoto Machiya near Nijo Castle

[Tabitabi Shinsen] is a traditional two-storey machiya , which was built in the Taisho era with more than one hundred years history. The name Shinsen comes from one of the oldest famous courtyard in Kyoto during Heian Period, "Shinsenen", which is located near our house. Here, you can experience the original and traditional Japan and the ingenuity of combining modern elements with traditional craftsmanship.

We have GOEMON-BURO(bath tub) next to shower room. Please try searching "GOEMON-BURO" !! Guests can enjoy your garden while enter the GOEMON-BURO. 2 minutes to Sijo-Dori(downtown) on foot, guests can enjoy shopping and access to public transportations soon.
