Food Scene

It's actually an old ice plant and everyone of their drinks has a unique cube of ice to go with it based on how the drink needs to be cooled. My great grandfather used to buy ice once a week from the building!

Really really good BBQ at good prices, even better wings AND a million types of whisky to try if you are up for a drink. There's a nice outside patio to eat on, too.

You get to sit and be served outside! The food is a bit pricey, but they serve breakfast lunch and dinner there and the ambiance makes up for the cost. The coffee at the oldest schoolhouse in the US is served hot at your table along with the food from Gourmet Hut.

This is a classic cheap 50's diner that serves good coffee and consistently good food. They also have a lot of Greek dishes if you are in the mood! Quick seating, friendly service always and free wifi if you want to go do some work.

It's been there forever and it's right in the heart of old downtown. It's pricey, but always good food and it's rare you get to eat authentic Spanish food in an (originally) authentic Spanish town.

There's no indoor seating, but this place is amazing BBQ. Once it sells out, it closes. Worth it to stop on your drive in or out of town!

Drinks & Nightlife

This place has a wrap around porch on the second story that really encapsulates St. Augustine. They serve pitchers of Sangria that are a bit pricey, but the view is worth it. They also normally have pretty good music.

Entertainment & Activities

St. Augustine Distillery is relatively new, but care so much about locally sourced ingredients and supporting the community. All of their tours are free and it's an interesting one to take. The custom gins are incredible.

St. George Street is the main shopping drag in St. Augustine. It also has a fair amount of restaurants and bars on or near it. Free parking at night is across at the Fort if you can snag a spot! If not, I'd walk from our apartment because parking is a nightmare.

This is a BEAUTIFUL venue, I definitely check the schedule every time I'm headed up. I've seen huge bands there for next to nothing and few people inside because it's so far off the beaten path. Not to mention, it's surrounded by hundred year old hanging oaks. Other stuff goes on here, too, there's a farmer's market and yearly cultural events. Definitely check it out.

Arts & Culture

It's one of the strangest collections I've ever seen, but it's housed in what was one of the premier hotels in the US in the early 1900s. It's pretty incredible to walk through the old spa, workout rooms etc and there's some interesting collections - like old buttons and vases. It's hard to describe, but a must see if you have 2 hours to spare.

Parks & Nature

Anastasia is beautiful and one of the last Florida beaches with amazing sand dunes. It's pristine and something not to be missed, but is NOT dog friendly on the beach :(

You can still drive onto the beach (for a fee), but I'd definitely check the tides etc to see if your vehicle can make it. Somedays it's only 4 wheel drive and other days it's great for small cars. The amazing part about the beach is that ITS ALL DOG FRIENDLY (As long as they are leashed and you cannot leave them in your car/tied to your car unattended or you will get a warning/ticket).

By far my favorite beach. If you are headed South, there will be a small parking lot on the right hand side of the road before you reach the bridge. It's a short walk over the dunes to the beach, but it's usually quiet, dog friendly and the nicest place to put a chair in the water and read. There are no waves on the inlet side, but don't swim too far out because rip tides definitely happen!
