Highly recommended Thai food in the Villages' second Village, Sumter Landing, just off main street. Sumter Landing is a great place to stroll around and see clothing, kids and wine shops, and when you step into Thai Ruby you'll feel you walked into an authentic Thai spot. The food is excellent, staff is friendly and welcoming, and the spot is a comfortable respite from the hot Florida sun.

A great spot to bring the kids where they can see their meal being cooked on hibachi grills in front of them. Also great cocktails for the adults :) All in all, a fun lunch or dinner out.

Entertainment & Activities
The amusement park of amusement parks - Walt Disney World - is about an hour drive away. We often take day trips, leaving the Villages around 10 AM, eat lunch at the park, get a few hours of rides and sights in, and still be home for bedtime.

See the original Little Mermaids at the famous Weeki Watchee park! be sure to take in a show at the underwater theater, and see animals and swim in the lagoon while there. This park is very original, e.g., "old" - but worth a visit if you are looking for Florida kitsch.

Daytona Beach is world-famous for a reason: the beaches are beautiful and only about an hour 15 mins away from the Villages, across the National Forest. Lots of little shops and restaurants; if you want a date night check out The Shores Beach Resort for dining or cocktails right on the beach.

Visit the famous "sponge market" where you can buy ocean sponges fresh off the boat, fished by Greek fishermen. Lots of great little shops and restaurants, too. Worth a day trip!
