"12th-century stone building with low-beamed, intimate dining room for a modern and creative menu." Wonderful restaurant - not a budget option - but would be great for a special occasion.

"Situated on Steep Hill, Browns Pie Shop is in the heart of historic Cathedral City of Lincoln and is one of the city’s favourite dining establishments. The restaurant is owned by Allan and Christine Gill who bought it in November 2005 and with the help of their family, have enhanced its already excellent reputation." "Lawrence of Arabia In 1925 the building was occupied by Lawrence of Arabia whilst he was serving at RAF Cranwell. It was around this time that he wrote his infamous book, ‘The Seven Pillars of Wisdom‘, the legendary account of his leadership of Arab insurgence against the Turks in Syria During World War I." Booking is probably sensible - particularly at the weekend.

"A welcoming Italian cafe serving delicious coffee and fresh, homemade, and locally sourced organic food throughout the day. Located in The Terrace, Cafe Portico provides an atmospheric cafe to enjoy a hot drink, a snack or light lunch with friends or work colleagues. There are evening music events once a month with a special food menu available. " It is generally necessary to book for the special music events - check of their blog on line. Also does great Pizza every Friday night from their wood fired pizza oven on the back of a motorbike - David and I love this place.

"A Wonderful Grade II Listed Building sitting at the entrance to the Strait with a rich history in the Historic city of Lincoln. The Cardinals Hat history dates back to the late 1500's where the building would have stood at the heart of the old walled city. The front part of the building constitutes a remarkably fine specimen of late medieval timber-framed town house and was reputedly named after Cardinal Wolsley, Bishop of Lincoln in 1514 where it served as an inn or public house." Lovely place to call in for a drink.

"The Usher Gallery was officially opened on 25th May 1927 by the Prince of Wales and the new building was opened in October 2005 after much hard work including an archaeological excavation. Visitors can head to the auditorium where video or personal introductions to the museum or to education courses may be given; the education suite; the archaeological collection or the New Curtois Gallery, where touring exhibitions are housed. Below these last two, at the downhill end of the building, are the stores and workshops which service the whole." The Usher is just to the side of the cottage and is well worth a visit.
