Maymont is a 100 acre Victorian estate which contains Maymont Mansion historic house museum, an arboretum, formal gardens, a carriage collection, wildlife exhibits, a nature center, and petting zoo.

Brown's Island, part of the Canal Walk, includes a walkway that extends south from the island over the James River. A trestle that crosses the island makes this a popular destination for railfans.
