A bit of a longer walk or short drive will take you to Jimmy’s Beach on The Boulevarde. Jimmy’s Beach is sheltered from the ocean and protected from summer northeast winds making it an ideal place for kids. There's very little surf and is perfect for swimming.

Also a great place to hurtle yourself down sand dunes on a piece of cardboard or boogie board (often damaged boogie boards can be purchased cheaply at So-Lo Warehouse)
