Great seafood buffet on Friday evenings, and Prime Rib buffet on Saturday evening. Reservations are usually necessary for these evenings. Booked earlier is better.

Best fine dining restaurant you'll ever find. http://thecopperdoor.com/ Not expensive by big city standards, but it is so good, it's very busy, so go to Yelp and reserve early, even during the week.

Mike's Seafood, in Blairsville, has its seafood actually flown in daily. They have both a fresh fish market and a full service restaurant. They don't NEED a website. Their reputation speaks for itself, but google search on Facebook or in general and you can find plenty of links. Wanna grill seafood on the deck at Kokomo? Get it at Mike's not at Ingles.

Parks & Nature

The highest point in Georgia, Brasstown Bald, is a short 10 minute drive from you. South on Ga 75 to Ga180 (about a mile south). Turn right onto 180 and look for the signs to Brasstown Bald to the right when you reach the gap. During the summer months, a tram runs to the visitors center atop. The visitors center and tram are closed in the extreme winter months, but the short hike to the top is worth it in any season.

Sightseeing

Bell Mountain is the mountain to the east of Hiawassee which you'll see directly in front of you if you go north and at the interesection of US76 and Ga75. The "notch" in the peak is from the mining of mica for periscope lenses in WWII. Now a county park, the vistas are unbelievable. Go north to Shake Rag Road, turn right. As you go up the mountain, when Doe Trail leads off to the right, go left. Continue to follow. When you top a hill with a road square to left and to right, go left. Absolutely stunning views, and sunset is over the top.

Shopping

Ingles is THE grocery store. There's also a Dollar General ~5 miles north. You'll see it on the way into Hiawassee, but Ingles is basically the full service super market. Just past it, about two blocks, Bell's Market is on the hill on the right, but not as big and variety as Ingles.

Blue Ridge, Georgia, about an hour or so drive west, has become the upscale town along US76 in the northern rim of the Ga. Mountains. Lots of really cool shops, dining, and the Blue Ridge Railway. Visit https://www.blueridgemountains.com for a good idea of activities, where to eat, etc. Not worthy of a separate drive, but if you visit Blue Ridge, take the 10 minute drive out of town to Mercier Orchards. Check it out at: https://www.mercier-orchards.com They have AWESOME EDIBLES year round.

Entertainment & Activities

The Alpine Village of Helen is 12 miles, and 102 curves south on GA75/17. It's a Bavarian themed town with anything imaginably in the 'touristy' category. Lots of good bars, restaurants, etc., and several tubing companies which operate on the Chattahoochee River during the Spring/Summer/Fall seasons.
