The jewel in the crown. Mt Taranaki is a local treasure. Plenty to see and do on the maunga, whether it’s a summit walk, day walks or overnighter in one of the many huts located around the mountain, this is a very special place to visit. Remember to always check the weather conditions and let someone know your plans. Conditions change quickly on the mountain but the staff at the information centres are very helpful and happy to give advice.

Fitzroy Beach is in New Plymouth, it’s a great swimming and surf beach. The Kiosk Cafe has good food and coffee and it’s a nice spot to just sit and look out over the ocean.
