This is the must-visit charity bookshop in Exeter.
This bookshop could come straight out of Harry Potter's Diagon Alley - inside this historic Tudor house is a volunteer-run bookshop that is donation-only. It also supports local artists and runs a gardening program. What's not to love!

Winstone's Bookshop in the seaside town of Sidmouth is run by book lovers, for book lovers. It boasts an eclectic collection of local authors and guides, as well as modern fiction and a fun children's section.
Sidmouth is also famous for its ice creams - definitely treat yourself after your book browsing!
PLUS - there are two more independent bookshops in Sidmouth that you can visit if you have time: Paragon Books and Fieldfare.

If you're headed to Topsham (which I highly recommend, see my other guide book), make sure you find this gorgeous little Telephone Box, which has been transformed into a free library. Take a book, and leave a book. Also a great spot for photos.

Haytor Rocks on Dartmoor offers a moody and atmospheric walk. It's no surprise this place is also the inspiration for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's tale, 'Baskerville Hounds'.
There's a national trust shop which has some great Sherlock Holmes souvenirs and information too.

Head to this museum and be prepared to learn of the dark side to pirating on the Cornish Coast, which inspired Du Maurier's gothic novel, Jamaica Inn.
