Our home ❤️ I’ve lived in OB since I was born. Apart from attending unversity and living in London, this is where I’ve spent most of my time. As far as home towns go; this is pretty damn good. Of course there are downsides (as there always are) but it’s mostly a lovely place to live and I hope you enjoy your time here! From the house you can take a stroll to the park where you’ll find some shops and eateries, a beautifully maintained park with tennis (free), trampolines (in summer) and children’s play area. You can also hire water crafts from paddle boards, kayaks and canoes to large day boats. If you have your own - launch it from the jetty and go wild. Fishing is also popular as is wild swimming. I would suggest wearing a bright swim cap or float bag. Enjoy walks and bike rides from here. Beccles and Somerleyton are lovely or head to the beach!

Ahhh lovely ol’ Lowe! We’ve been to a lot of beaches all over the world and Lowestoft is up there with the best. It might not have hilly mountain scenery or crystal clear waters but what it does have is a lovely long, wide stretch of golden sand relatively free of plastic pollution! Perhaps you fancy hiring a beach hut for the duration of your stay? Get in touch for the latest information. I highly recommend joining my friendly group of fellow sea dippers - Sea For The Soul. 8am on a Saturday morning (back of Hatfield Hotel) for breath work followed by a lush dip! Or take yourself down for a bargain beach yoga session (by Zak’s for just £1) with Stella Raphael on Facebook. For children - The Waveney Surf Lifesaving club runs surf and water safety sessions throughout the year. Dogs are not allowed on the beach from 1st of May to the 30th September. Instead take them to Pakefield or Kessingland.

Cute little village just outside of Lowestoft. Easily reached by train (5 mins) Oulton Broad South, car or bike (45 mins). There is a great 10 mile river walk from Carlton Marshes. Just make sure you’re wearing appropriate gear as it can get boggy during certain times of the year. I recommend hiring a raft and spending the day on the Beccles broad. Paddle up to Geldeston Locks for food and drink and float back (if you get the tide right). The Lido outdoor heated pool is a must!

If you really like coffee, this is the day out for you… My Favourite - Kofra Norwich is a fantastic city with a great all round vibe. When you’re from Lowestoft, you spend a lot of your time here so it feels very homely. It’s a 40 mins drive or 30/40 mins train ride from Oulton Broad North. Take a look at the beautiful cathedral or castle. The Sainsbury exhibition hall is also interesting. There are two large shopping centres with all the usual retail brands but I suggest taking a walk around ‘The Lanes’ where you’ll find lots of artisan and locally owned shops or Magdalen street which is home to the Looses flea market and lots of charity shops! There are bars and restaurants a plenty and for evening entertainment check out The Norwich Arts Centre.

Southwold is a cute seaside village 12 miles from the house. We often bike here as the country roads provide a leisurely ride. The beach itself is nice with a unique pier. It gets extremely busy during the summer months as 80% of Southwold are holiday homes. The high street itself is pretty with historic buildings and some boutique stores and restaurants. If you visit, make a stop at Harris and James for a coffee or The Box; a local artisan bakery owned by our friends Johnny and Bex. If they happen to be selling their Lickety Ice lollies - you have to try one!

Good old Yarco! Visit with an open mind and you’ll love Great Yarmouth. A historic seaside town with fabulous wide, sandy beach. It has lots of arcades, horse and carriage rides and plenty more to do for the children. Joyland is a childhood must (don’t be surprised if you injure yourself on the snails or the tea cups). There are many bars and restaurants that line the main prom - I highly recommend Lek Thai.
