Grab a tube and jump in right AFTER Livermore Falls. (Not before, tubing the falls can be very dangerous). You can ride float the river from Livermore area to the Plymouth Senior Center. Be sure to wear a life jacket, never go alone, and park one car in each area (Livermore and behind the Sr. Center) for easy returns. If you're worried about getting started or need a tube, check out Plymouth Ski and Sport on Main Street. They'll make sure you're all set.

The Cockermouth River carved a narrow canyon in bedrock on its way to Newfound Lake, beginning as the last ice age drew to a close. Nature used grains of sand suspended in the current to carve the walls of the canyon into curious shapes and create potholes in the bedrock."

There was intrigue and betrayal, and all the workers went on strike to support one of the founders (and hated the other). It's worth Googling the back story on for sure.
