Sightseeing
Penguin is 4 km away (a 5 min drive). There are two IGA supermarkets in town. The walk along the foreshore is lovely and an easy stroll. There are some interesting shops in town including The Penguin Pantry (great sourdough bread, coffee, and local Tasmanian products), Cocoon (interiors), Poppyrons (gifts and homewares) and the The Small Folk Store (a beautiful toy store) all are worth a visit. There are several good cafes including Reneasance, Letterbox and Jo Jo’s. The Penguin bakery is great for cakes, pies and sweet treats. Hiscutt’s Park (also known as The Windmill Park) has a nice playground and friendly ducks to feed.

Turners Beach is a beautiful sandy beach at the mouth of the River Forth. Visit the Berry Patch where you can pick your own berries (in season), enjoy a coffee, pizza or an all day breakfast while the kids play in the playground.

Cradle Mountain is definitely worth a visit. There are many different walks you can do of varying grades. Many walks are board walks, so easy going with younger children.

The Beach Hut Cafe is quite good as well. Other restaurant options include: Pedro’s- seafood, River Arms Hotel, Rise 88 Asian Fusion Food, Windows on Westella.
