Local Hikes

Family-friendly hikes within 10 miles of our place. All hikes are great in any season. We can help with equipment if you're hiking in fresh snow.
Rock Canyon offers a wide, friendly hiking trail for all ages. Just go up as far as you like, leaving energy for the downhill return trip! Along the way, you'll enjoy beautiful, narrow canyon, cliff views, with a babbling (sometimes raging creek) in the springtime, and occasional glimpses of wildlife, including moose. Distance markers: 0.5 miles to the gate, 0.75 miles to the first of two drinking fountains, 1 mile to the first of five bridges, 1.5 miles to the last bridge, 1.75 miles to the squaw peak turnoff, and 1.90 miles to the last drinking fountain. My favorite: "The Lookout" is 2.5 miles up the canyon and gives excellent views of Provo Peak, Cascade Mountain, and Squaw Peak and Y Mountain from the back.
