Do not be surprised for finding it is managed by Brazilians from São Paulo (has a big part of the japonese restaurants around town). São Paulo has the biggest japonese communities outside Japan in the world, since the beginning of the 20th century.

The park along the riverside is a great place to go for a walk along the Mondego River.
The park has many different areas, one has restaurants and a park for kids (north side). On the south side, you have "Exploratório", a museum and a place for activities related to science for kids but also the municipal swimming pool and the many nautic activities promoted by Associação Académica.

The park has many different areas, one has restaurants and a park for kids (north side). On the south side, you have "Exploratório", a museum and a place for activities related to science for kids but also the municipal swimming pool and the many nautic activities promoted by Associação Académica.
Even if a lot of tourists do take a swim in the Parque Verde area, local people normally don't. Rebolim is the closest place for a swim. You can either take a bus near the river or walk.
