Angouleme is a Bastide town rising some 350m above the Charente River plain. The views are fabulous! You can walk around the rampart, visit the every-day market, eat at a restaurant on the market square and enjoy the shopping, historic churches and Town Hall. Plenty to do and see here. Enjoy the September spectacle of the Circuit des Ramparts!

You have to see it to believe it! This lovely town built into the rock, surrounded by Bordeaux region vineyards is stunning. Plenty of wine growers to choose from for your purchases, restaurants galore and only an hour's drive from Merignac!
