A classic ironworks, a whiskey distillery, a golf course. is not located in Scotland, but 20 minutes by car from Årsunda.
Mackmyra Whisky is a Swedish single malt whisky distillery. It started in 1998 at a Swedish winter resort, where eight friends from the Royal Institute of Technology met up for a ski trip. Noticing all of them had brought along a bottle of malt whisky for the host, a conversation started about the manufacturing of a Swedish whisky.
The following year a company was founded, and after years of experimenting with 170 different recipes, they finally settled on two recipes in 2002. That same year a new distillery was built in the old mill and power station at Mackmyra, which went on stream in October.The first limited edition single malt whisky, Preludium 01, launched in February 2006 and sold-out in less than 20 minutes.
Mackmyra have won several awards at international spirit competitions.

Fishing at Storsjön, One of Gästrikland's largest lakes with nice fishing and many activities. Here are perch, pike and pike. They have caught perch of more than 1kg, pike of more than 10kg and pike of more than 5kg. You can buy the fishing license at the Gulf station.

In the summer, M / S Emma goes after a fixed tour list. Tours go to Trebo, Strandbaden in Årsunda and to Forsbacka. M / S Emma is also used extensively for full-chartered excursions on Lake Storsjön.

In Kungsberget, both beginners and experts can ski. You will find everything here from just sloping child slopes to wonderfully steep ski slopes with speed in. You have 12 lifts and 22 slopes to choose from when skiing. There are also 2 km of light trails in the area.

After traveling along our beautiful coast about 10 km you come to Bönan and Böna cafe. The bean is from the beginning a fishing location and in 1740 there were 5 fishermen.
The bean chapel was built by and for the fishermen in 1843. During the mid-19th century, the bean also received school. In 1840 Böna lighthouse was built.
In the beginning of the 20th century, Bönan developed into a holiday resort with hotels, bathhouses, café, dance course and trade stall. Here "nice" people went for recreation. They brought the steamboats Bomhus I or Bomhus II to the bridge below the current Böna cafe.
Today, Böna cafe is where the hotel once was and we can warmly recommend you to take a trip out to Bönaviken, take a walk out to the lighthouse and have a coffee or lunch with us.
