This is one of my favorite restaurants here in Akureyri. It is central and the food is good. My favorite is the lobster tempura.

I love Indian food; it is my go to food on my own travels. This one is small, has good simple food and is not too pricey.

Lemon is a great place for smoothies and healthy drinks and their sandwiches are not bad either. They have one downtown Akureyri as well.

These guys have some nice mixed salads. A selection of premixed salads that are all scrumptious, or you can choose your ingredients.

Activity and exercise
I go swimming here frequently as well as using the sauna and Jacuzzi. Really nice for kids as well as they have a couple of decent slides.

If you want to hit the gym I recommend this one right on the water. Beautiful and easy to forget about time gazing out to sea.

For diving with professionals you can drive 15 minutes north of Akureyri to a small old fishing village called Hjalteyri. You can also swim in the sea there and take a soak in a small hot tub by the ocean.

This is a good place for coffee, brunch or beer. A fairly international place if you have had your fulfill of Icelandic and need a break. Right downtown.

I like this one for brunch, they have freshly squeezed orange juice that I love and is quite a rarity here in Akureyri.

This cafe is in a bookstore; I love books so I love this place. They have good coffees and teas. If cakes are more your thing go across the street into Bláa Kannan or down the street to Ilmur Cafe. They have a greater selection of cakes.

Dominoes are Dominoes, familiar but good...and they deliver. I prefer the pizza at Bryggjan but they do not deliver.

Sightseeing
They have Whale watching here in Akureyri and I hear they are good. I have, however, never tried them. I have tried these guys but they are in Húsavík, not too far to drive, just under an hour if you take the tunnel.

Icecream
These guys are practically next door, two houses over. They claim they have the best icecream in the world. I don´t know about that but they do have nice icecream. Whenever we have someone over for dinner we usually don´t bother with making desert. Just hop over and get some icecream and hot chocolate sauce, or some other goodies

I love this museum; I have seen it many times and always find something new. Fun and interesting and Siglufjörður has some nice restaurants and cafes as well.
