Truly glorious swimming hole - one of the jewels of the area in the summer. also try Purdon or Edwards crossing for great hiking along the river. Granite boulders, crystal clear water that's warm to swim after July 1. A "must go" when you are in the area

The hike to island lake is a great day trip. about an hour from the house by car, it is an easy 1 hour hike through relatively flat Sierra terrain. You pass by several other lakes to get here, and once you do you can lounge or swim (water reliably comfortable in August/Sept). You can also extend the hike further to more lakes in the Bowman Lakes region

You pass by several other lakes to get here, and once you do you can lounge or swim (water reliably comfortable in August/Sept). You can also extend the hike further to more lakes in the Bowman Lakes region
