Lake Hartwell State Park

Every type of camping enthusiast will find a site that suits their needs for camping on Lake Hartwell. The park is the only in the state to offer the unique, single room camper cabins, which offer guests without camping gear an opportunity to experience the feel of camping on Lake Hartwell.
River Forks Recreation Area is a 182 acre gently sloping site with a relatively dense tree cover consisting primarily of pines. The site presently offers day use and boat launching facilities consisting of 1 gatehouse/entrance, 38 picnic sites, 2 standard picnic shelters with water and electric service, 1 two lane boat ramp, 1 courtesy dock, 2 comfort stations, 3 playgrounds, 3 designated swim areas/beaches, 1 volleyball pit, and associated paved roads and parking areas throughout. The area experiences high levels of intense public use during peak recreation season.

Sadlers Creek State Park sits on 395 acres on a peninsula that extends into Lake Hartwell, one of the Savannah River reservoirs. Camping on Lake Hartwell at one of 37 lakefront campground sites, observing wildlife and recreational watersports are only a small sampling of activities to be enjoyed in the park.
The park makes a perfect location for family reunions or other gatherings, offering a lakeside pavilion and two rental picnic shelters.

Camping on Lake Hartwell at one of 37 lakefront campground sites, observing wildlife and recreational watersports are only a small sampling of activities to be enjoyed in the park.
The park makes a perfect location for family reunions or other gatherings, offering a lakeside pavilion and two rental picnic shelters.
Situated on a wooded peninsula, Tugaloo’s cottages and most campsites offer spectacular views of 55,590 acre Lake Hartwell in every direction. Some cottages even have private boat docks for overnight guests. Tent campers can choose between the developed campground or primitive sites located a short walk from the parking area. During summer, the lake is a popular destination for swimming, water skiing, sailing and boating. Both the Sassafras and Muscadine hiking trails wind through oak, walnut, mulberry and cherry trees.
Tugaloo State Park boasts a six-lane mega ramp used for large fishing tournaments and easy lake access. Fishing is excellent year-round, and large-mouth bass are plentiful. The name “Tugaloo” comes from an Indian name for the river which once flowed freely prior to the construction of Hartwell Dam.
