Probably the most iconic restaurant in all of New Orleans. If you want to know how Creole food should be made, this spot, tucked into the beautiful Garden District, is the place to do it. James Beard winner. Has a dress code, but no jacket required.

This is probably my favorite restaurant in the whole city. It is a little expensive, but totally worth it if you want to try and place with creative New Orleans food. They do a fried chicken brunch that is amazing!

This place is always busy at night, mostly filled with college students from around the city. The food is surprisingly good, especially the nachos. Open pretty late.

Vietnamese food is New Orleans food! We have a huge Vietnamese population here and it is an under-appreciated part of New Orleans cuisine. Lilly's is one of the best around.

An Irish pub right off of Bourbon Street that is a local's and industry spot. It feels less touristy than the rest of Bourbon if you get sick of the pounding club music and hand grenades.

The lake is huge! It feels almost like the ocean to be there. There are some great spots to walk along it and picnic tables etc. Great place to watch the sun set.

The Bayou is basically a little river that goes through mid-city (it is also the name of the neighborhood surrounding it). You can canoe or kayak on it. Some folks go out there and bbq and hang out all day. A really pleasant place to walk along and see some interesting parts of New Orleans.
