Bob's is a well known institution and a favorite amongst all living in San Francisco. It's open 24 hours and expect a line very early in the morning for when they roll out their special ham and cheese croissant.

Swan's is OLD SCHOOL a no-frills counter nook specializing in fresh fish and is a bustling landmark for raw-bar fare & casual seafood. They open at 10:30 am and there is always a long line. Local secret, if you want crab, then you have to start early like the rest of the folks waiting in a long line for a single seat at the counter; if you do not want crab then go to Swans close to 3pm but no later than 4pm. There is little to no wait, you will be served quickly. I suggest you order a dozen oysters and the Sicilian Carpaccio. OMG - you will be dreaming of this long after you leave San Francisco.
