Saturday nights in July and August there are concerts at the gazebo on the bay by local bands. Bring some lawn chairs or a blanket, snacks or grab some nearby ice cream. My family loves this. This location also hosts art fairs and Alton's Old Home festival.
In the winter, the Alton Bay is the home of the NH Ice Runway once the ice on the bay is thick enough. Come and see pilots landing on the old ice runway.

Bring a sweatshirt, sunscreen and bug spray
Temperatures on the mountain fluctuate and drop considerably at night. It's not uncommon to not need air conditioning aside from 2-4 weeks in the year and even then it's not needed everyday. If you're going to be spending time outside after dark you may want a sweatshirt and bug spray.
