If you're looking to travel a bit further, the 45 minute drive to the Johnstown Flood Museum may be something to consider. It's a memorial of the 1889 Great Flood when the South Fork Dam burst.

The LHHT, as it's called, is a 70 mile hiking trail stretching from Johnstown to Ohiopyle. It encompasses some of the best scenery in the Laurel Highlands, and has camping spots as well as parking lots dotted along it's length. Even if you just hike a short piece of it, you won't be disappointed. Your dog can join you, but must be leashed.

It's a beautiful hike at the end of a day, or an all-day adventure as you log miles to include the entire trail. We are 3.8 miles from the Rockwood trailhead

The springs were believed to have various and diverse medicinal values due to each spring’s unique mix of minerals. The resort hotel, now known as Omni Bedford Springs Resort was established in 1806 and has hosted many notable guests, including 13 U.S. presidents. The resort also features a golf course, a spa, and several dining venues. Bedford Springs is a place of history, beauty, and relaxation.
