Food scene
This is a historic fruit stand. Barbers orchard was one of the largest on the east coast. Ingles on the hill actually was part of the orchard when I was a child. The bakery is wonderful and the fresh apples are straight off the trees. My husband get up every Sat and Sun when we are visiting goes for apply pies. Don't miss the Mtn Fruit Pie - WOW. Arrive by 9am to avoid lines....NOTE. sit on picnic table and look to the top of the mountain. Mt Lynn Lowery sits there in her glory with a 55 foot cross at the 6000 ft peak. You can also see this from the pic window of our house.

Huge amounts of diner style food. Biscuits are what us mountain folk call a "cat head biscuit", cause they are as big as a cat head, of course. Closes in mid afternoon daily. Expect to wait in line.

Sightseeing
This is the original tourist attraction of the area. It is 7 miles away and you can also cross over the mountain into Cherokee for full day of exploring. Just look for 19/23 access back to Bryson City and Sylva and you will circle right back to Waynesville. ALSO- Blue Ridge Parkway access is at top of the mountain - you can drop back off at Balsam and head back into Waynesville. We do this in the mornings to enjoy the mountains and stop back at Apple House

There is a great dog park at the bottom of the hill from the Keller Street house. Literally at the bottom of the hill. Turn right out of the driveway and turn down the first street to your left. you will then turn right to the town recreation park facilities along Richland Creek - enjoy

Take a nice short trip or long drive on the parkway to see our beautiful Smoky Mtn and Blue Ridge Mtn. God is great, this is His country.
