Best food
This is our favorite burger and beer place in Charlotte hands down! It's located in Plaza Midwood just outside of Uptown. Upgrade your fries to the rosemary truffle fries - it's worth it. You can also get a brown bag special which is a $2 mystery beer. Sometimes it's a busch light - other times it's a craft beer! I love the mystery.

Huge selection of beers and great deals through the week! I recommend coming here if you are around South end.

Neighborhoods
Plaza midwood has lots of local shops and grungy/punk bars and restaurants. It's our favorite part of town and it's nice to just walk around in the area and through the neighborhood.

This is the most popular part of Charlotte. It is located just outside of uptown all along the light rail and has a plethora of restaurants, bars, and apartments all along the light rail. You can ride the light rail to and from uptown/noda and along the way even walk on the rail trail and stop by various businesses. It is very corporate/expensive though but still worth going to!

Mac tabby is locally owned and located in NODA off the light rail. You can play with cats and drink coffee/beer - need i say more? Make reservations online ahead of time!

dive bar with bikers! Cheap beer and drinks. They refused to sell their land to the apartment developers in the area and as such you can see that the apartment had to build AROUND their bar so you can take a picture of a tiny, biker dive bar surrounded by a huge apartment complex. Don't be put off by the non-clean cut ambiance it's a pretty chill place :)

Rental car, light rail, or bus
Charlotte public transportation is not the best but I still use it from time to time. The light rail goes through South end, noda, and uptown which is where many popular restaurants etc are located.
If you have a rental car you can go pretty much anywhere. I recommend just parking in meters because many of them are free. Just be aware of signs - lots of trendy neighborhoods will tow you in a second! DO NOT PARK IN AN APARTMENT GARAGE!
