With the exception of Duck Donuts, these are also locally owned & operated establishments. Most of the places we share in our guidebooks are, with the exception of only a few. Several of these places also serve lunch & dinner, so make sure to view their full menu. Henry’s is closest spot for a diner style breakfast.
One of our favorites, a local hot spot! Great sandwiches & coffee plus a good beer & wine selection. Hit them up for breakfast or lunch! One of our favorite daytime spots! I get the Bud bagel and Derik usually gets the Chuck sandwich. Yum!

FINER DINING
For such a small town we really do have a lot of excellent restaurant options here, with many chef-owned establishments. Some of these are super low-key spots, don't discount them or judge a book by it's cover (or curb appeal)!
Excellent weekend brunch. Get there early or plan to wait. (You’ll probably end up waiting anyway, this is a hot foodie spot!) An amazing husband & wife chef team with a rotating & seasonal menu. You’ll love!!

Avoid this area if you are not a good swimmer (or stay in the tidal pools or  shallow waters.) Great for walking, birding, picnics, photography & nature!
For those interested in aviation. Or just take a hike to the top of the monument for some pretty great views of Kill Devil Hills, the ocean, our schools, etc (PRO TIP: don't go off the path, there are some nasty cacti and sandspurs on that hill!)

A sunset you'll never forget! The view is unbeatable from the top, but if you're feeling sluggish, keep driving to just south of the Dune- take a right on Soundside Drive. At the end on the right, there's a small parking area on the sound where you can dip your toes in the water and take in the sunset (But AGAIN- the view is worth it from the top!)

Go any time during the rest of the year & you'll have it mainly to yourself (though many of the shops will likely be closed)
