Getting around in Oslo from our apartment

This is your guide to exploring Oslo from our apartment. All information about departures for trains, trams, metro buses and ferries to the Oslofjord islands (such as Hovedøya) can be found through https://ruter.no/en/ and tickets can be bought in the ruter-app (zone 1 ticket for the entirety of Oslo). We strongly reccomend that you download the ticket app for ruter, which makes it easy to buy tickets. You can buy a 24h ticket for 108 NOK, and at 1h ticket for 36 NOK. Citybikes: 45 NOK for a day: https://oslobysykkel.no/en 5 pickup-spots surrounding Tøyenparken, and pickup-spots all across the city. Train: The fastest way to the city centre - takes 5 minutes to Jernbanetorget, but departures are infrequent. If you do not want to walk much at all, the best advice is to plan around the train. You have to go to the far-away side of the platform (closest to Tøyenparken) to travel to the city. The nearest platform will take you to Nordmarka, the large forest area north of Oslo. Metro: The closest metro stations are Tøyen, Hasle and Carl Berner. All Metros-lines stop at Tøyen, departures for the city-centre every other minute. All within 15 minutes of walking Bus: Unfortunately, the 60 bus is not driving its usual route due to construction work at the moment. The 20 bus and 21 bus are running as usual. The 20 bus departing from the Munch-museum will take you directly to Vigelandsparken. It is also the fastest way to travel to Bygdøy (many museums, including the Vikingships). If you travel to Bygdøy, take the bus to Olav Kyrres Plass, and change to bus number 30.

Grocery stores and cafes

Large grocery stores are located close to the metro stations at Tøyen, Hasle and Carl Berner. The local grocery store in Einars vei is open on sundays, but has a smaller selection and is slightly more expensive than the larger ones listed above. Lille Tøyen kolonial is the local cafe (less than 5 minutes away, they also have pizza in the evening), which can be highly recommended. There are also good cafes and restaurants at Tøyen torg and at the Munch museum. Grunerløkka is a 15 minute walk away, with loads of cafes and restaurants.
