Cape Sounion is the best half-day trip you can do out of Athens. The drive there is one of the most picturesque all over Greece. It is located 70 kilometres southeast of Athens. Once you arrive you see the magnificent Temple of Poseidon. The temple is surrounded on three sides by the sea and it is well known as one of the best spots for the sunset in Greece. The view is incredible, you can see the islands of Saronic Gulf and as far as the coast of Peloponessos.
