Garland Ranch Regional Park

Easy hiking and vast views of old Carmel Fish Ranch where we grew up and ran as children. It was filled with artichoke fields and you could ride inner tubes down the river to the sea between Monastery Beach and the Mission Ranch.

Monterey Bay Aquarium
886 Cannery RowThe views are outstanding and only a short 20 minute drive south on hwy 1. It is truly the Big Sur experience without the long commute past Hurricane Point. Sit out on patio overlooking the sea to Hurricane Point, Point Sur and the horizon. "Pale Rider" starring Clint Eastwood was filmed right there in the open fields as well as down the coast another 30 minutes at Pfeiffer Beach where I grew up. Walk along the cliff, take photos on the point after or before a delicious meal. Watch the fishing boats navigate for pools of calamari and other sea life then eat them. Yummy
