  • Wspaniałe miejsce. Wspaniali gospodarze.

    Lisa2019-09-15T00:00:00Z

Jeśli przebywasz w okolicy, zrób sobie przysługę i zarezerwuj swój pobyt i Pułapkę Niedźwiedzia Hoveya.

Spędziliśmy pierwszą rocznicę ślubu w UP of MI i uwielbialiśmy każdą minutę tego.

Zdecydowanie polecam!

INDIAN LAKE CABIN #1 SLEEPS: 4 standard + 2 small children (max) BEDROOMS: 2 BATHROOMS: 1 LAKEFRONT (Indian Lake) *DOCK (new in 2018, private, between May 15-October 15) *RENT 1 CABIN OR ALL 2 TOGETHER Consider this cabin an upgrade from camping. Along the shoreline of Indian Lake, this old-school (1940s) cabin is an ideal get-away for the small family or couple who used to like to camp, or wants a more rustic experience. Walking around the cabin, the ground is uneven in places. Please watch your steps. There are cottages within earshot, as this was once the Mountain Ash Resort, a historic spot for many years. The shoreline is rocky, so it isn't easy (though not impossible) to hop into the water directly in front of the cabin. Due to the rocks, swim shoes are suggested. Swimming directly n front of the cabin is not ideal for small children. When you are at Indian Lake Cabin #1, feel like you are a part of the water at Indian Lake. We are located in Manistique, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula. Located along Indian Lake, which is 8,400 acre Spring fed lake. Indian Lake is the fourth largest inland lake in Michigan's Upper Peninsula with an area of 8,400 acres. It is 5 miles long and 3 miles wide. Indian Lake has a maximum depth of 18 feet with about 90 percent of the lake less than 15 feet deep. Game fish include perch, walleye, northern pike, muskellunge, rock bass, small mouth bass, bluegill, sturgeon and brown trout. It is rocky along the shoreline, except in a tiny, sandy area. The lake has a sandy bottom, yet you have to walk through the rocks in order to hit the sand. This area is great for swimming, hiking, golfing, biking, fishing, hunting and sight seeing. Spend the day boating, read a book on the deck under the umbrella, or enjoying the tiny sandy beach area. Then, spend the evening having a tasty barbecue and a soothing bonfire. You are literally steps (10 or so) from the lake. Gorgeous, wide open view of the water. Enjoy being outside in the fresh air! This cabin provides a kitchen with dishes, cooking utensils, microwave, toaster, coffee pot, fridge and a gas stove. Artesian well water. Feel free to enjoy time under the community pavilion with the newly paved sitting area, and sandy bottom swimming. SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS Bedroom#1: Bunk Bed style: a full-size bed on bottom and a twin bed on the top (only suitable for children under 100 lbs) Bedroom#2: Bunk Bed Style: a full-size bed on bottom and a twin bed on the top (only suitable for children under 100 lbs) BATHROOM: Only 1. Has toilet, sink and shower (no tub) LOCAL ATTRACTIONS Big Springs "Kich-iti-kipi": Michigan's largest freshwater spring. Two hundred feet across, and 40-feet deep. Over 10,000 gallons a minute gush from fissures in the underlying limestone at a constant 45 degree Fahrenheit. By means of a self-operated observation raft, visitors are guided to vantage points overlooking fascinating underwater features and fantasies. Ancient tree trunks, lime-encrusted branches and fat trout appear suspended in nothingness as they slip through crystal waters far below. Clouds of sand kept in constant motion by gushing waters create ever-changing shapes and forms, a challenge to the imagination of young and old alike. Indian Lake Golf Course: A very popular, 18 hole golf course along Indian Lake. Just 5 miles from the Cabin. The Kewadin Casino: It is approximately 10 minutes (7 miles) from the Lodge. Historic Manistique Water Tower : The Old Water Tower is one of the many historic sites in Schoolcraft County. Built in 1923 and constructed in the “Roman revival” style, it is also listed in the national register. The renovated building will provide space for arts related public events and public rest room facilities while preserving one of Manistique's unique and historic buildings. Fayette State Park & Historic Townsite: Fayette was once one of the Upper Peninsula's most productive iron-smelting operations. Located on the Garden Peninsula at Snail Shell Harbor. When the charcoal iron market began to decline, the Jackson Iron Company closed its Fayette smelting operation in 1891. It is now a completely restored village including 22 historic buildings, museum exhibits and the visitor center, which can be toured May through October. The historic site is located in Fayette State Park. *Mackinac Bridge- approximately 1 hour away. *Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore- approximately 1 hour away. *Tahquamenon Falls State Park- approximately 2 hours away. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Association: This cabin is a part of the Mountain Ash Condo Association. Back in the 1980's this was known as the Mountain Ash Resort. Each of the cabins is now privately owned. Freshwater Vacation Rentals manages 2 of the cottages: Indian Lake Lodge & Indian Lake #1. There are no other rentals on this property. The rest are the owners you see are just enjoying their home. Many of the owners live here all summer. Beach: The beach area outside the pavilion is small, and it is just used for swimming. It is not for docking boats. The association does not allow boats to be pulled up and left all night. They must be taken to the Indian Lake State Park and trailered back and forth each night. Boats: While we love the new dock, if your boat has a deep bottom, it may be too rocky to pull your boat up as far as you would like. We highly recommend you pull your boat each night due to the high winds and waves that Indian Lake creates. A friend's boat was actually sunk by the waves a few year's back, so now we are extra cautious. Need a rental? Check out the Curtis Fish and Hunt Shop http://www.fishandhuntshop.com/boatrentals.htm Cell phone service: Cell phone service is generally unreliable in the Upper Peninsula when you travel outside of Marquette and Escanaba. Firepit & Firewood: There is a portable fire pit on wheels. We do not guarantee there will be firewood available during your stay. Many times, you will find firewood left in close proximity to the cottage, that you are welcome to use. If you are interested in having wood delivered, just let the office know. There's a gentleman just down the road and generally can deliver a face chord of wood for approximately $60 - delivered. Fish cleaning hut: We have a communal fish cleaning hut that is used by 12 cabins within the Mountain Ash Association. Still, if you are fishing for & henceforth cleaning your salmon, we do need you to clean your salmon at the Harbor Boat ramp fish cleaning station where they have a large grinder for the leftover fish parts. (Open May-end of September) Grill: There is a charcoal grill provided for your use. Guns: We can not allow target shooting anywhere near the Indian Lake (Mountain Ash Association) Cottages. There are neighbors close by. Plus, there are local 2 gun ranges in the area that are accessible. Internet/WiFI: Yes! Pavilion: As a guest, you are welcome to use the pavilion to spend time along the water, cook or enjoy the small beachy area. The Indian Lake State Park, just 1 mile around the bend has a more expansive pavilion/ sandy beach area. Pets: I'm sorry, yet due to safety concerns, we will no longer be able to welcome pets of guests to any of the cabins at the Mountain Ash Association. The only way to have a pet with the Mountain Ash Association is to purchase a cottage. Owners are allowed to have pets, yet guests are not. My apologies for this inconsistency, yet it is a part of the association by-laws. Play area/ Swing set: There is a small children's play area with a swing-set and plenty of room for outdoor children's games across from the community grilling area. Towels: Yes, we have both basic towels and linens for your stay. Swimming: The sandy swimming beach area right next to the cabin, with a convenient pavilion and community grilling area. Water (well): Our water has passed all the county water tests. You are welcome to use the water as you would at home.

North Shore Retreat offers guests a main floor bedroom with 1 queen size bed & 1 twin size bunk bed and a large upper level open master loft with a comfortable king size bed, full bath, and plenty of closet space. Enjoy stunning views of the waterfront right from the bed and fall asleep gazing at the stars through the two overhead skylights. The fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and living room offer fabulous views beyond the slightly sloped yard to the vast Lake Michigan waters. You'll feel like you're at the ocean – but without the sharks! Watch the ships far out on the horizon, or watch the birds and wildlife right up close in the yard. Brew your morning coffee in our drip coffeemaker, or visit one of the excellent coffee shops in downtown Manistique. The sandy shoreline and beach change from day to day, so if you stay a few days, you're sure to experience the many changing moods of the lake. Depending on water levels and changing weather conditions, the beach can be transformed from a short sandy sliver to a wide “ocean-like” beach. The lake can be a tempest of crashing waves or a peaceful sheet of glassy calm. Each day will surprise you with a beautiful gift from nature's bounty, and it really is a new experience every day. A small stream runs into the lake just to the west of the cabin and provides a great place to explore. Get creative and pick up a few small rocks to paint at North Shore Retreat's "art corner". Stay warm and toasty in the wintertime with gas heat and the option for a fire in the wood burning stone fireplace. In the warmer months enjoy the wonderful breezes coming in off the lake. There is no Air Conditioning at North Shore Retreat at this time, but open windows, fans, and the cooling lake breezes typically keep the home within a very comfortable temperature range. A propane grill will get your small family fired up for some great meals. If you bring your well behaved four-legged friend, there is a fenced in area behind the garage. North Shore Retreat provides lots of games for you to enjoy, and a fully equipped laundry room if you need to wash clothes. Cell phone service at the cottage is spotty and will vary based on your carrier. We provide a landline for your use, and wi-fi is available for smartphone data and wi-fi calling functions. (Or you can take advantage of the opportunity to "disconnect" for awhile!) There are many groomed snowmobile trails in the Manistique area - along the Manistique River and through scenic forests. There are approximately 2,000 miles of groomed trails winding through the U.P. If you enjoy hiking, you're welcome to explore our 10 acres, or head out to some of the best hiking trails in the state at nearby Indian Lake State Park, Fox River Pathway, and Ashford Lake Pathway, to name just a few. The Kewadin Casino is close by and will pick you up at the cabin and return your group (of at least 4) as well. Unique day trips are popular with all of our guests. Enjoy a visit to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Tahquamenon Falls State Park, Mackinac Island, and many other incredible places in the U.P. There are plenty of opportunities to canoe, kayak, fish, bike, and explore a variety of other nearby recreational opportunities in the U.P. Security Cameras: Due to the secluded nature of North Shore Retreat, we use “smart cameras” to monitor the property entrances, snow level, etc. when the property is unoccupied. Sleeping arrangements: *Linens are provided* Bedroom #1 (upstairs in an open loft): King size bed. Bedroom #2 (main floor, adjacent to the kitchen): 1 queen size bed & 1 twin bunk bed LOCAL ATTRACTIONS Big Springs "Kich-iti-kipi": Michigan's largest freshwater spring. BICKEL'S CABINS SLEEPS: 6 comfortably (considering solar/generator system) BEDROOMS: Main Cabin=3, Rustic Cabin=1 BATHROOMS: 1 full bathroom, 1 basic outhouse *LAKEFRONT (54-acre EAST LAKE-outside of Manistique, in Schoolcraft County) *SWIMMING ON PROPERTY *SANDY-BOTTOM LAKE *CANOE INCLUDED *HUNTING ON PROPERTY *PETS are WELCOMED *VERY SECLUDED- “off the grid” Please keep in mind that the Bickel's Cabins/secluded 76 acres experience is not ideal in consideration of the average city person's level of comfort. EVERYONE in your group must be avid, authentic, outdoor-loving people. The power does NOT work like it does at home. You can't run the microwave, toaster, pump water and watch TV at the same time. It taxes the system. Yes, you can run out of power. Cell phones don't work well at all, unless the solar panels are sufficiently charged and you connect your phone to the Wi-Fi. It's not for everyone, yet absolutely IDEAL for the right people. In this environment, one unhappy or non-outdoorsy person in the group has a direct, negative impact on everyone traveling together in this secluded space. Have you every backpacked or camped in a tent, at any point in your life? Did you love the experience? Please ask this question to everyone in your group. If your answer is yes, then this is the ideal creature comfort step-up you've been looking for. As a backpacker myself, as I age, I find myself deeply appreciating the indoor plumbing and sleeping on a standard mattress that an experience such as staying in this gorgeous, custom-crafted log cabin deep, in the U.P. woods, provides. If you are power-dependant (including simple cell phone use) , this is NOT the place for you. These two unique cabins are on gorgeous East Lake (private) in Manistique, Michigan. Having a Main Cabin and a Rustic Cabin facing the lake, the sunsets and sunrises are breathtaking. These cabins each offer a very different vacation destination, which may suit larger families! Live off the grid! Enjoy our solar power with a back-up generator. Drive the 2 mile dirt road from the main road into these peaceful log cabins. Ideally, it is best to bring a truck, though with good, careful driving, a regular car can make it down the 2 mile-dirt road. In comparison with many U.P. roads/2-tracks decent, dirt road. The Main Cabin consists of 3 bedrooms, a deck, fire pit, propane grill, full kitchen, and new leather furniture. The Rustic Cabin is a 2-room cabin with a general room and a bunk room with beds. It also has a fire pit and charcoal grill. A gazebo, private deck, and canoe can be enjoyed by all during your stay! The cabins rest about 200 feet from each other and are only rented together. Come enjoy this wonderful vacation rental where the fishing is plentiful, and you can hunt (bear, deer, partridge and rabbit) on this 76-acre private property. Gaze upon the Red and White Pines that lace the area, and birds that fly along the skyline. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ATV's: Allowed on property! Animals: Hunting on property…76 acres, bears, wolves, coyotes, partridge, squirrels, rabbits, moose Bathroom: Main Cabin: Full bathroom with tub and shower Rustic Cabin: Out-house (Outdoorsy people consider it a relatively nice outhouse; City people think an outhouse is an outhouse- Yuck!) Beach/Swimming: Swim right on the property. It is a nice sandy-bottom lake. Bedroom Configuration: IN MAIN CABIN: 1st Bedroom: Main Floor: Queen bed 2nd Bedroom: Main Floor: Queen bed 3rd Bedroom: Upstairs—loft style: 2 Twin beds IN RUSTIC CABIN: Bunk Room: 1 Queen with twin bunk on top Bunk Room: 1 bunk bed (2 twin mattresses) All beds in the Rustic Cabin are together in same room. Blow Dryer: We ask that you please limit the use of your hair blow dyer as it may drain the power enough to inhibit the well from working properly. Boats: A Canoe is provided! Please use it during your stay! You can also launch your own boat as well right on the property. There is a primitive boat ramp at the former campground across the lake. Bugs: Yes, there are plenty of bugs in the wilderness, on East Lakeon the 76 private acres. If doors are left open, even for short periods of time at the cabin, then bugs/flies/mosquitos love to sneak in. We do not spray outside for bugs, as with the natural landscape, along comes bugs. Depending on our level of rainfall, mosquitos can be plentiful. Bug spray is highly recommended. If you are at all concerned about bugs, critters or small animals, Bickel's Cabins may be too much of a challenge. It is important to us that all of our guests have a positive experience. Cable/Satellite TVs: Yes! This is a big plus for such a secluded cabin. Please use it conservatively, and not just for background noise. Cell phone service: None, unless you have a smart phone and can connect to Wi-Fi calling, provided you are hyper-conservative with the power levels. Cell phone service is generally unreliable in the Upper Peninsula when you travel outside of Marquette and Escanaba. While it has improved over the years, it still varies by your provider and actually cell phone. Please give your family the office contact number (734) 837-4976 and we can always send someone out if you needed to be reached. Distances: * Pictured Rocks: 27 minutes (24 miles) * Marquette: 1 hour 16 minutes (67 miles) * Tahquamenon Falls State Park: 1 hour 43 minutes (92 miles) * Mackinac Bridge: 2 hours (113 miles) Dock: Your private dock is about 12 feet long. Electricity: NOT TRADITIONAL POWER! The main cabin is powered by solar (with a generator back-up that we try to keep the use at a minimum), we have to be hyper-sensitive to the electrical use. No power lines-- just trees and nature.. Aaahhh...The Rustic Cabin has a hand pump for water, propane gas stove and propane gas refrigerator. You must be hyper-conservative with your energy use here. While we are happy to be able to provide Wi-Fi and satellite TV at the secluded Bickel's Cabins, you must keep these considerations in mind: Always unplug the coffee pot (or any other small appliance) when you aren't actively using it. You must have all electronics off from time to time to give the solar panels time to charge. You CAN NOT use 2 appliances at once (i.e. blow drying your hair and making a cup of coffee tends to overpower the system.) Fishing: Good Fishing! Fishing License: You can purchase your fishing license online at http://www.mdnr-elicense.com/Welcome/Default.aspx Fishing poles: Please bring your own Grill: There is a propane and a charcoal grill for you to use. Propane will be provided. If you would like charcoal, it can be purchased at the nearby store (8 miles away). Grocery Store: About 8 miles away, so prepare in advance! Internet: YES! This is huge for such a secluded cabin. Lake: East Lake-Thompson is a small 54 acre lake just north of Manistique in Schoolcraft County. The deepest spot is 25 feet. Near the cabin is 5-15 feet deep. Linens: Yes, we provide your sheets and linens. Just like a hotel, the beds will be made for you upon arrival. If you are fussy about the thread count of your sheets, just let me know, and I'll make sure we leave a bed open for your sheets. We have just the basic sheets, pillows, pillow cases and bath towels. Parking: NO PROBLEM! Pets: Pets are welcome! Freshwater Vacation Rentals currently charges $50/per pet for your entire stay. Yes, we do accept dogs, yet we do ask that you please clean up after them both inside and outside the cabin. Plus, if you allow them on the furniture, we do ask that you please bring your own linens/blankets for them to sleep on. Just let us know which bed you will be using with them, and we'll make sure it is ready for your sheets when you arrive. Plus, if the pet hair starts to build, we do ask that you please run the vacuum. Generally, dogs love the water and places to explore. Pet food does tend to attract mice, so vigilance is needed. Privacy: Only private home on the lake. Skiing (Water): . Not ideal here at Bickel's Cabins. While technically you can water-ski on the lake, it is not ideal. Why? 1. There is a primitive boat ramp. 2. One end of the lake is shallow. 3. It is narrow, so we don't think you'd be able to get up to speed. Space: Both cabins are about 200 feet from each other. Towels: Yes, we provide towels. It's always good to bring extra though. Washer and dryer: Not on property! You can drive into Manistique to wash your clothes at the laundromat. Wood: All over the property you will find wood, for grilling and for burning. If you would like more, the local grocer also sells bundles.

This charming cottage sits directly on 239' of the scenic Indian River. It has a blend of the original era charm with modern updates for convenience. The cottage can accommodate six (6) guests, but only four (4) adults allowed.
Pets need to be pre-approved, kept on a leash while outside and not left unattended in the cottage. Children also are welcome but keep in mind this property fronts right on the river with no barrier (see picture) so parental responsibility is a must. I do provide two small plastic play yards that can be put together or used separately but they will not stop an active toddler determined to be free:)
I love this neighborhood because it is well-maintained, friendly, and location is near many amenities, such as golfing, beach, lake, shopping, restaurants, theater, Casino, and pavement to all.
